About the site

This welcoming camping and glamping site is set on a 140-acre family farm in the low Weald of East Sussex. Head here for sweeping country views, sheep in the paddocks next door and fantastic walking trails nearby, including the Cuckoo Trail. Suitable for tents and small campervans, there are 42 pitches available on the camping field, each with plenty of space to enjoy a restful break. All pitches are first come, first serve. Guests will also have access to a selection of electric hardstanding (15m x 10m) pitches with a 10 amp hook up, suitable for caravans, motorhomes, and campervans. It wouldn't be camping without a campfire, either! The site has fire pits to borrow, and log bundles are available onsite to keep the fire burning. For glamping, experience a relaxed rural escape in one of the fully furnished bell tents. Except for a good book, all you need to bring is yourselves! Sleeping up to two adults and three children, there are three beautiful bell tents - Lovelily, Ruby and Zephyr. All are fully furnished with a king-size bed and a few other home luxuries, including a kitchen box with essentials (plates, bowls, mugs, cutlery, pots and pans etc.) and a picnic table outside. Sorry, no dogs are allowed.

Bell tents are open May 15th to September 7th. Camping is open May 1st to September 13th. Pitches from £28/night for 2 people.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2026

Hosts were super friendly and described the Cuckoo Trail and how to get there, which would've been a nice walk if we stayed longer than overnight. Field was nicely mowed, the pitches a decent size and free fire pits you can use. Logs and start up kits available if needed. 4 electric hard standing pitches at the top of the field and grass pitches below. The shower blocks were well maintained with good ventilation. Yes, you have to push a button for hot water but not a problem at all as it gives you long enough to wash, and then push again, unlike some where you have to hold your hand on the button the whole time. Plenty of toilets available, an under cover washing up area with a freezer to store your ice blocks in, which is very handy. Farm shop sold essentials and a few meat products including lamb burgers! Yummy 🤤

A restful break

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Weekly)Aug 2025

The first day we arrived it was extremely windy and found it extremely difficult to pitch my tent. Steve, the owner, very kindly assisted and the tent was secured. The weather improved and l enjoyed an idyllic stay at Fontmills Farm. All the facilities were kept clean on a daily basis and communication between the owners Steve and Nicola, top class. There are fire pits which are offered free of charge, wood and kindle pack at a competitive price. All tents have plenty of space, it's a children's paradise to be able to ride their bikes freely, play bowl and generally play as kids do in a safe environment. On the first evening we enjoyed an Indian meal in Hailsham called The Royal Indian. There is access to The Cuckoo Trail via the farm, you walk through an ancient wood on your way to Horam. We visited the emporium where we browsed and had a tasty breakfast in The Cuckoo Cafe which adjoins it. There is also The Mermaids Lounge which specialises in fish dishes. There are plenty of places to visit from the farm, The South Downs Country Park and Eastbourne are under thirty minutes. We will definitely return as thoroughly enjoyed our week.

A note from the site themselves...

Our family friendly site is based on a 140 acre family farm. The site is run by myself and my husband and we have been lucky enough to live here since the 1990s with our two daughters, Lily and Ruby.

Every spring, you will also see Blue Texel ewes that lamb, along with our lovely border collie sheepdog, Floss. We also have horses, Harry, Maisie and Ricco, and our lovely cats - Ethel and Ernie.

Though we might be biased, we can't get enough of rural life. We like to think our little site provides a haven for our campers and hope to welcome you soon, Nicola
