Family friendly Royal Oak sits in the Peak District National Park, just 15 minutes from Buxton and Tissington, with its own award-winning country pub. Choose from grass pitches for tents and small campervans, a perfect base for exploring or a quick pit stop! There are dedicated DofE pitches, and The Bunk Barn is also available, catering for small and large groups. Dogs are welcome to join your stay, too.

About the site

Nestled 15 minutes from Bakewell and 20 minutes from Ashbourne, this family friendly site offers a relaxing countryside escape with direct access to the Tissington and High Peak trails. The camping area is situated behind the award-winning pub, making it the ideal spot to refuel after a day of walking, cycling, or exploring. Spread across two levels are 20 non electric grass pitches, each with space for one car. There are standard pitches (6m x 8m), large pitches (8m x 10m), and super pitches (8m x 12). These are suitable for tents and small campervans up to 5.3m in length, with super pitches offering a picnic bench and a fire pit with a BBQ grill. Please note that motorhomes, caravans, and gazebos are not permitted. Anything larger than a VW camper will not be allowed onsite. A dedicated DofE field is also available for school groups, Scouts and DofE groups year round. During the main season (April to September), this field is open Sunday to Thursday only. The Bunk Barn features two twin rooms and two four person rooms. Three rooms are located on the first floor, with one four person bedroom on the ground floor. Guests also have access to a communal kitchen and nearby shared facilities. Dogs are welcome to join your stay, and the pub is dog friendly too. BBQs and fire pits are welcome as long as they are raised off the ground.

Open all year.
