Located on the edge of Exmoor National Park, Porte Meadow Campsite offers a rural setting for a relaxing getaway (but with proper toilets and showers). This campsite provides spacious non-electric grass pitches for tents, caravans, and campervans, where guests can pitch up wherever they like. With Woolacombe Beach and the town of Barnstaple just a 20-25 minute drive away, there's plenty to do nearby!

About the site

Experience the beauty of the Devon countryside at Porte Meadows, offering a back-to-basics camping experience with large meadows and proper toilets and a shower. Located near Exmoor National Park, it's an ideal base for exploring the beautiful blue-flag beaches and taking in the stunning moors walks. Guests can also take advantage of the dedicated dog park, allowing their furry friends to run and play off-leash. The campsite is suitable for tents, caravans, and campervans, with spacious grass pitches measuring up to 10m x 10m. Guests are free to choose where to pitch, as pitches are non allocated. For those chilly evenings, guests are welcome to bring their own fire pit and logs for a cosy night under the stars. If they don't have their own, logs can be purchased onsite.

This site is open for the May bank holidays, half term and summer holidays.

What time is check-in and check out at Porte Meadows?

Guests are welcome to check-in from noon until 8:30pm, please advise the site if you are delayed. Check out is due before 11am on your last day.

Is Porte Meadows dog-friendly?

Yes, four-legged friends are welcome to join you on your stay, but please keep them on a lead. Breeds and crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act are not permitted.

Does Porte Meadows allow BBQs and campfires?

Raised BBQs and campfires are welcome onsite, perfect for al fresco dining in the evenings.

Can I park near my pitch at Porte Meadows?

Only one car is to be parked near the pitch. Extra vehicles must be parked in the designated parking area.

Does Porte Meadows allow awnings, gazebos or pup tents?

Awnings are allowed, free of charge. For gazebos and pup tents, guests are welcome to bring one of each for a small fee.

Things to do on site and in the Barnstaple area

If you're looking for some fun activities on-site, the site offesr free use of some preloved balls, crab buckets, body boards, and more. Guests are welcome to play football and rounders in the main meadow.

For those looking to explore the surrounding area, there are plenty of beautiful beaches 20-30 minutes away, including Combe Martin, Woolacombe and Croyde. These beaches offer a wide range of activities, including swimming, surfing, and sunbathing.

For those who want to learn to surf, there are several surf schools in the area that offer lessons for all levels. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced surfer, these schools can help you improve your skills and have fun in the water.

For those who love to hike and explore, there are plenty of walks nearby, including Exmoor National Park (on the doorstep). Guests can take in the stunning scenery and wildlife while enjoying a peaceful walk.

If you're looking for a more adventurous activity, horse riding on Exmoor is a great option. There are several stables in the area that offer guided horseback rides through the beautiful countryside.
