Crossways Country Park is a traditional, rural campsite, located five minutes from Barnstaple and 20 minutes from Exmoor and sandy beaches. Choose from a range of grass pitches with the option of electric, or go glamping in the rustic shepherd's hut. Dogs are also welcome, with a dedicated doggy exercise area. There is a restaurant, farm shop and vineyard only a five minute walk away, with the Jack Russell pub a 15 minute stroll from the site.

About the site


Set in rural Devon, this traditional family campsite offers a relaxing stay, within 20 minutes of Exmoor National Park and the coast. It is just a five minute drive from the amenities of Barnstaple, with a restaurant, bakery, vineyard and pub within a 15 minute walk. The site is home to 25 grass pitches, each measuring 7m x 7m. The non electric grass pitches are split between tents and caravans, campervans, and motorhomes. Five electric grass pitches are available for caravans, campervans, and motorhomes, each with a 30 amp electric hook up. If you prefer glamping, stay in one of the site's rustic shepherd's hut. Sleeping two, the huts include a double bed, bedding, linen and towels. The interiors also include electric, lighting, heating, a kettle and a microwave. Outside, there is a picnic table for enjoying the countryside views. Up to two dogs are welcome per pitch, with a dedicated exercise area for playing fetch. The shepherd's huts are pet free. In the evening, guests can enjoy a BBQ, just please ensure they are raised from the ground. Do note, open fires are not permitted.

There are toilets, showers and a washing up room. You will also have access to a laundry room, washing up sinks and a dog exercise area.

The Vine restaurant/cafe, Venn Valley Winery, Lucho Bakes bakery and Ashford Farm Shop are also a five minute walk, with the Jack Russell pub a 15 minute walk from the site. Orchards Farm Shop and a Tesco Superstore are within a ten minute drive for picking up essentials.


A note from the site themselves...

This site is truly beautiful. there is very minimal lighting other than around the Toilet blocks so it is an absolute haven for stargazers.

you might also get a glimpse of the roe deer that frequent the park.

FACILITIES & RUBBISH

The washing facilities are basic but kept clean and are open 24/7, Please use them respectfully and leave them clean and Tidy after each visit

We pride ourselves on providing a clean and well-maintained site for everyone to enjoy so please put all your litter into the bins provided.

Recycling Bins are behind the white wall halfway down the main field on the Left-hand side.

General Rubbish in Bins Please

Anyone found dumping caravan/camping Equipment will be charged.

COUNTRYSIDE WALK & PICNIC AREAS

This is accessed by the gates at the bottom of the fields. Everyone staying on the site are welcome to use this area, but Crossway Country Park will not be held liable for any Injuries to Persons or Damage to property. The Countryside can be a dangerous Place.

Children must be always accompanied by a responsible adult.

Dogs must always be kept on a lead & fouling to be picked up & put in dog Bins Provided.

Rubbish picked up and put in General Waste Bins.

CAMPSITE RULES

Welcome to Crossway Country Park

During your stay at Crossway Country Park, you are agreeing to abide by our rules and regulations, you or anyone else in your party may be asked to leave if these rules are broken.

The speed limit is 5mph and please do not exceed this. We also ask you to please avoid using your vehicle unnecessarily i.e.to drive to and from toilet block (unless for valid reasons) We do not allow loud music at any time or any disruptive noise after 10pm.

Anti-social behavior and foul/abusive language used against staff or camp site guests will not be tolerated at any time and can be removed from the park. If you need to report an incident when the office is closed, please call the number provided on the reception door.

CAMPING FIRES

DO NOT light fires or disposable BBQs directly on the grass or in woodland area.

Always use an appropriate and safe fire container that is raised off the ground. Never leave the fire unattended or without a responsible adult.

Hot and smoldering ash is dangerous and must not be emptied into hedgerows, on the grass or into general waste bins.

Never use a charcoal BBQ in a tent and portable appliances should always be in an area with sufficient ventilation.

DOGS

Must always be kept on a lead in the Campsite and on the Countryside walk. There is wildlife on the property and do not want to cause any harm to them. Dog Fouling must be picked up in a bag and discarded in Bins provided, situated in the Dog play area or at the far entrance of the wood. There is a designated Dog area where, if safe to do so can be let off the lead.

There is to be no washing of dogs in the ablution blocks and laundry sinks at any time

Please ensure you take all your equipment and Belonging's with you when leaving your Pitch area clear & Tidy, including tent pegs.

We reserve the right to remove anyone from the Campsite that does not abide by the rules.


FAQ

Check-in is available from 2pm until 5pm. Please advise the site if you are delayed. Departure is due before 10am on your last day.

Yes! Up to two friendly and well-behaved dogs are welcome per pitch. There is even a dedicated pet exercise area available. Please note, the shepherd's huts are pet free.

Raised BBQs are permitted except in hot and dry weather, due to the surrounding woodlands. Open fires are not permitted.

Yes. Awnings, gazebos, and pup tents are permitted.

The five electric grass pitches have a 30 amp electric hook up.

Yes. Bedding and towels are included for any shepherd's hut stays. Please note, you will need to bring your own cooking equipment.

Group bookings of three or more adults or units are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted). Sorry, no hen or stag parties allowed.

Things to do on site and in the Barnstaple area

Around a 20 minute drive brings you to the seaside village of Westward Ho!, famous for its long sandy beach. It's great for a gentle walk along the coast, or you can enjoy a classic beach day with fish and chips, ice cream and sea air. You might even spot kite surfers out on the waves!

Bideford, about 25 minutes away, is a pretty riverside town with lovely views and a historic bridge. Wander around the independent shops or visit The Burton at Bideford, a museum and art gallery with exhibits, local crafts and a friendly café.

Five minutes from the park is Barnstaple, one of the oldest towns in Devon. It has a lively market hall, riverside walks and plenty of shops and places to eat. It's a good spot for a bit of town life before heading back to the countryside.
