About the site

This family park is located in a scenic woodland, set alongside the Cromford Canal. In the heart of Derbyshire, the site is within easy reach of the M1, with the towns of Alfreton and Ripley within five minutes, and the Peak District National Park only 25 minutes away. For tents and trailer tents, there are grass pitches, some with 16 amp electric hook ups. Parking is located on a hardstanding area next to the grass pitches, meaning little ones can enjoy a safe car-free camping area. If you are sensitive to road noise, the team recommend asking to book in the top wood tent area. There are hardstanding pitches for campervans, motorhomes, roof tents and caravans. Choose from 16 amp electric pitches, or fully serviced pitches in the woodland, each with a 16 amp electric, grey water and water hook up. Do note, rock pegs will be required for awnings. Tucked away in a secluded area, there are cosy barrel camping pods with countryside views. Sleeping up to four, the pods include fixed beds and mattresses, but you will need to bring along your own bedding. Electric, a heater, a table and box stool chairs are also included. Ideal for families, there are three play parks with a seating area for parents to relax and unwind. There is an indoor play area for under fives, a pool table room, a sandpit and a seasonal disco room and land train that tours around the site! The site is home to a further range of camping pods, a rally field and seasonal pitches. Dogs are welcome, with up to four dogs allowed per pitch. Do note, the pods are pet free. In the evening, you can cook up a BBQ, just please ensure it uses charcoal and is raised off the ground. Open fires are not permitted.

Golden Valley Caravan Park is open all year round.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2025

This was our very first visit to Golden Valley Caravan Park, and from the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff who explained the layout of the site and gave us the choice of staying on the busier or quieter side. We chose the quieter side, and a member of staff kindly showed us to our pitch. The pitch itself was spacious, surrounded by beautiful woodland, which made the whole setting feel calm and relaxing. There is so much for families to enjoy at the park. The children loved exploring the three different play areas, each with its own under-cover sandpit, which was perfect for keeping them entertained whatever the weather. The café and bar were also a real highlight – very welcoming, with a lovely atmosphere, and the live entertainment in the evenings was fantastic. It really added to the holiday feeling and gave us something to look forward to after a busy day. The facilities were excellent throughout our stay. The toilets and washing areas were kept spotless, which made everything so much easier and more comfortable. Every member of staff we came across was incredibly friendly, always smiling, and happy to help with anything we needed. Overall, Golden Valley Caravan Park exceeded our expectations. It offered a perfect mix of relaxation, fun for the kids, and great facilities for the whole family. We had such a positive experience and will definitely be coming back again.

Trailer Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2025

We're not seasoned campers, but this was a fantastic place to start! The location is lovely—just be aware that the sat nav might try to take you down a private road, so follow the signs instead. We stayed at the top of the site, which was quieter but still close enough to all the facilities. The park has everything you need: washing machines, pot-washing areas and showers. They weren't the cleanest I've ever seen, but certainly not bad, and I can appreciate how tricky it must be to keep such a large site spotless at all times. The main play park was brilliant—right next to the bar and food area, which made it easy to keep an eye on the kids while relaxing. The entertainment was great and the staff in character suits really threw themselves into it, which made it even more fun. We tried the pizza and loaded fries, both delicious and reasonably priced. A couple of minor points: the nature walk could be better signposted and we did unfortunately step in dog mess twice. While that's down to irresponsible owners, I think a few extra signs and some more dog bins with disposable bags would really help. Overall, it's a really pretty site with loads to do—perfect for kids and for parents who want to relax knowing their little ones are safe and happy. The staff were all lovely, welcoming, and looked like they were genuinely enjoying themselves too. We'll 100% be back!

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2025

We booked last minute for a camping weekend over bank holiday. When we arrived, the staff were lovely and friendly- showed us to our plot. The plots are a really good size and there are lots of toilets, bins and pot washing stations around the site so they are never too far away. Our three children (6,6,9) had a blast on the 3 parks, Tommy train, log train and even in the entertainment on an evening. The staff are very on top of keeping the site clean at all times, from emptying the big bins to walking around with bin liners and collecting any rubbish. We all really enjoyed our stay and will be booking to go back in a couple of weeks!
