Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2026

A very enjoyable stay and a great one-night getaway despite basic facilities. The location is very close to Thornton-le-Dale, a lovely place to visit and grab a bite to eat. The only issue was the arrival process, as signs tell you to call upon arrival, but mobile signal is limited and no staff were present to help.

Quiet, rural site

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2026

Quiet, rural site, needs slight improvements to be a excellent site. Didn't dislike the site, been to far worse. We were first one to pitch a tent, so was able to pick an area with less thistles growing but if we turned up later, then would have struggled where to pitch due to the camping field not being mowed. Quick fix is to cut the grass to enable more tents on the camping field. Also, if you had numbered/allocated pitches, then could fit more on. There are reviews about smell of water but wasn't overly noticeable, the toilets were clean but like every site, they got worse with usage throughout the day that's the joy of camping. Didn't see owners at all during stay. There are wooden steps to the toilets and they look old and rotting but my husband said again, quick fix, pull up the decking and put new down as the frame work was ok. Wouldn't take a lot to make it into a great tent site.
