About the site

With Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove on your doorstep, this family friendly park is perfect for a seaside stay on the Dorset Coast. You will have direct access to the South West Coast Path, with Man O'War Beach a five minute walk away! The Rookery camping pitches are set amongst tall trees used as homes by resident rooks. Designated for small tents no bigger than 18m squared, the non electirc pitches are unallocated and available on a first-come, first-serve basis (this means pitches next to each other can't be guaranteed). Sea view pitches are for small campervans and motorhomes only, up to a maximum of 5.5m in length. They offer electric and are just outside the park itself, adjacent to the public car park for Durdle Door beach. The pitches are set on a significant slope, and it's worth noting that in peak times the car park will be busy. These are around 400m from the main facilities. Abbeyfield pitches are hardstanding, gravel pitches with electric and water for campervans, caravans and motorhomes. Pitches vary in size and are set on a small slope with hedges on three sides for privacy. If you fancy something totally hassle free, there are a range of glamping options on offer. Choose from simple camping pods, shepherd's huts, or an ensuite glamping cabin! You'll find everything you'll need onsite, including a well-stocked shop for everyday essentials, a welcoming bar and restaurant for relaxed meals and drinks, and a dedicated welcome team ready to support you throughout your stay. The park is also within easy reach of several charming seaside towns. You'll find Weymouth, Swanage, Poole, Bournemouth and Dorchester all within an hour's drive. Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre and The Tank Museum are also within a 15 minute drive! In the evening, you are welcome to enjoy a charcoal BBQ, just please ensure it is raised from the ground. Do note, open fires and disposable BBQs are not permitted. Dogs can join you for your holiday too, with up to two dogs permitted per pitch. Dog waste bins are also dotted around the site for convenience. Please note, the site is located close to Lulworth Ranges, a military training and firing area, so you may hear some firing noise when onsite.

Durdle Door Holiday Park's season normally runs from March until January. Sign up to alerts and we'll let you know when bookings re-open.

A note from the site themselves...

We feel incredibly lucky to run an independent holiday park in such a special place. The Weld estate has owned the 12,000 acres around us and the land we sit on for centuries.

Although many visitors visit the area each year, 30% of the estate's land is not managed for commercial gain, but for the protection and enhancement of the abundance of the natural heritage. Being located just above Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast means we're surrounded by some of the most beautiful coastline in the country, and it's something we never take for granted.

We're passionate about caring for the natural environment around us and keeping the park a calm, welcoming space for everyone who stays here. Our aim is simple: to give guests the chance to slow down, enjoy the scenery, and experience the same sense of peace and beauty that made us fall in love with this place in the first place.

Durdle Door Holiday Park is ideal for...

Couples
Older children (13+)
Young children

Things to do on site and in the Wareham area

A highlight of staying here is that it's only a ten minute walk along the South West Coast Path to Durdle Door, one of the most photographed landmarks in England. The huge limestonestone arch rises out of the sea and is a brilliant place for a walk, or unwinding on Man O'War Beach for the day.

You can also walk to Lulworth Cove in around 30 minutes, following the coast path over the hills. This perfectly shaped bay is famous for its clear blue water and white pebbled beach. The village has cafés, shops and great places to stop for an ice cream after the walk.

For a fun day out, The Tank Museum is just 15 minutes away. It has hundreds of real tanks from different times in history, along with interactive displays and shows that make it interesting for both adults and children.

Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre is also 15 minutes away, home to rescued monkeys and apes from around the world. A favourite with families!

If you fancy a traditional seaside day out, Weymouth is only 20 minutes by car. Here you'll find a long sandy beach, a busy harbour, shops, arcades and plenty of places to eat. It's perfect for paddling, boat trips or a relaxed stroll along the promenade.

Other nearby attractions include:

  • Corfe Castle (20 minutes)
  • Xtreme Falconry at Dorset Falconry Park (20 minutes)
  • Farmer Palmer's Farm Park (25 minutes)
  • Athelhampton House and Gardens (25 minutes)
  • Old Harry Rocks (30 minutes)
