Gyrn Ddu Campsite

Set on the Llŷn Peninsula, Gyrn Ddu Campsite offers a peaceful, back to basics stay for adults only. Just 15 minutes outside of Pwllheli, tent campers can pick between sea or mountain view non electric grass pitches, each nestled in a private mown out, car free area. Or opt for the cosy yurt for two! There is even a footpath providing direct access down to the beach. Campfires are also welcome for nights toasting marshmallows under starry skies!

About the site

With wonderful sea views to one side and mountains on the other, this site is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the scenic landscapes of the Llŷn Peninsula. For adults only, the site is ideal for those searching for a peaceful, back to basics stay with direct access via a path to the coast. There are just 15 pitches onsite, each located in its own private mown out area. All of the pitches are non electric and suitable for tents only, measuring 10m x 10m. Pitches are car free, but wheelbarrows are supplied for transporting your belongings from the car parking area. There is also a yurt onsite which sleeps up to two guests with a double bed (mattress protector, pillows and duvet are provided, but please bring your own linen and towels). Furnished with bedside tables with lamps and a dining table. Outside is a seating area and fire pit so you can enjoy evenings outside toasting marshmallows. The site is also a haven for visiting wildlife, including buzzards, birds of prey, rabbits and more. The area is also full of charming hidden coves and beaches, with Snowdonia National Park within a 15 minute drive too! For evenings under starry skies, campfires and BBQs are welcome so you can enjoy some traditional camping grub. Do note, this site is dog free. There is also a static caravan available for hire. This site is with The Greener Camping Club and at least one of your party must be a member. Membership costs £12 for the year and can be bought upon booking, giving you access to all membership sites.

Excellent campsite, brilliantly located. Has a pretty much private beach a short walk away, Very clean and with superb amenities. Pitches are private with a short hedge for privacy and personal bench and campfire. Bathrooms are clean with a better shower than I have at home! Mountain and sea view everywhere on site. Car park is really close to the tent and there are wheelbarrows available if needed - which is a big help. Really close to lots of interesting sights. This is a brilliant campsite and we will definitely be recommending to friends and family and returning hopefully soon!

Small Tent - Non Electric Sea View Grass Tent PitchesAug 2025

This was my first stay and overall, it was great. Tidy, clean, private, safe, very picturesque. The only slight downsides were; the noise of the traffic on the main road. Not awful, but noticeable. I would have liked a pitch with a sea view, however this wasn't specified when booking, maybe you could be able to book basic on pitch type? I did think it was a bit pricey, but all facilities were perfect despite being basic. Other than that, it had a great, wild feeling about it and would definitely camp there again!

Absolutely, lovely campsite, 5 of us stayed with no issues! Beach about a 10 minute walk from the campsite was amazing, very scenic in this area. Mountains surrounding the pitches which you can go hike up as well (we did this and it was an amazing view from up there and a good workout). Bathrooms and showers are clean and working well. Only thing I'd suggest is maybe some bug repellent or a zapper for that area as there are a lot that come to visit in the night-time, lol. We were able to choose our own pitch out of the available pitches, all of the pitches are provided with a picnic table/bench and a risen fire pit for when it gets cold and you are even able to purchase fire wood if you run out! Would definitely come here again the next chance I get to!
