Eco friendly and off-grid camping and glamping in the Dorset countryside

About the site

Set on a working alpaca and goat smallholding ten minutes from the market town of Bridport, this eco-friendly, off-grid camping and glamping site is nestled in the hills of Dorset's scenic Bride Valley. The two acre farm offers a relaxed, community-focused atmosphere where guests can enjoy camping or glamping alongside friendly alpacas and pygmy goats! Animal-inspired activities are a big part of staying here, with optional feeding sessions, meet-and-greets, and seasonal wellbeing workshops throughout the year. There are 11 non electric grass pitches for tents and campervans, along with three non electric woodchip or hardstanding pitches for campervans only. The camping fields are car-free, but wheelbarrows are provided to transport luggage to your pitch. For glamping, guests can stay in one of the cosy, unfurnished bell tents - simply bring your own camping beds and equipment. There are also furnished 3m bell tents sleeping up to four people, complete with a double bed, two single camp beds, soft linen, indoor seating, and a raised deck with outdoor seating to enjoy the surrounding countryside. Alternatively, the quirky converted horsebox offers a unique glamping stay for up to three guests. Inside is a double bedroom, a single bed above the cab, bedding, a seating area and a long burner with the first night's logs included. The horsebox also features a small kitchen area with a gas hob, sink, cooking utensils, cool box, solar lighting and USB charging points. Outside, guests can enjoy a picnic bench, BBQ and fire pit, with dog bowls and a dog bed provided for four-legged visitors. Shared compost facilities are nearby, and one parking space is included. Jurassic Coast beaches are just a five minute drive away, or for guests who want to leave the car behind, the Jurassic Coaster bus stop is 15 minute walk away, connecting you to the South West Coastal Path. West Bay is a ten minute drive, great for crabbing or fish and chips, while Dorchester and Weymouth can be reached within 20 minutes. Here, pride is taken in its eco-conscious approach, with many upcycled and reclaimed materials thoughtfully reused throughout the site. Guests are kindly asked to use eco-friendly toiletries and products during their stay to help protect the surrounding environment and wildlife. Dogs are welcome on the pitches and in the glamping units. Please keep them on a lead and supervised at all times. BBQs are welcome, provided they are raised off the ground, and fire pit hire is available onsite. Only the farm's clean-burning logs may be purchased. This site is certified with the Wanderlust Camping Club.

Grass pitches are available from March until September, bell tents from May until September, and woodchip pitches from December to March. Pitches from £23/night for 2 people.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2025

Took my 6 year old son on his first camping holiday to Flowerdew Farm. Claire was incredibly welcoming and we had a plot right next to the goats, much to my son's delight! Its a super clean site with various options to make sure you correctly recycle and dispose of your waste. There is such a great welcoming and homely vibe around the campsite. There is power available in the main hut as well as a communal fridge, freezer and kettle. We did the animal feeding activities as well as the Mini Farmer sessions and my son loved them. He was very sad to be leaving which is the sign of a good and successful holiday. Would recommend Hive Beach which is a short drive away.

Quiet, natural and friendly

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2025

We had a lovely stay at Flowerdew Farm as a family of four. The location was beautiful and very near the great beach at Hive, plus pubs and farm shop. Very peaceful - quite a few campers came and went during our stay and all were lovely with no noise issues. We enjoyed the alpaca meet and greet. The facilities are quite basic, which the Ts & Cs made clear, and while the compost toilet worked really well, the portaloos were are the only option for men and children so worth bearing in mind if you're used to modern toilet blocks. The one shower was nice but a bit variable in temperature. Lovely rest barn. Claire was very friendly and knowledge and very responsive to our requests. Overall, a lovely site if you're looking for small, quiet and beautiful location, and are prepared for quite simple facilities.

Great campsite!

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2025

The campsite has a great location only 15 mins from Bridport, there are a few country lanes off the main road but really not bad, the sat nav directions also go to the correct place which is convenient. Facilities onsite were good, in the indoor area there was a shared fridge freezer which made keeping food easier and was a nice cosy place to chill. The owner of the campsite was very friendly and provided lots of suggestions of local pubs and activities that we could do, she was also very open to our feedback throughout our stay which we appreciated. The toilets and showers were clean but did have some spiders in corners which comes with the outdoors so wasn't unexpected, the path to these was also well enough lit at night with fairy lights and a brighter outdoor light. Overall, we would recommend the campsite and although is not the most modern, allowed us to connect with nature for good value for money.
