Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

The facilities and support were really good for our stay. The toilets & showers were really clean and the staff were always willing to help or answer questions. For my first campervan break I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Nice spot, close to Thirlmere lake and a pub next door!

Roof Tent - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

Lovely little campsite! Electric and running water right next to our pitch. Toilets and showers were clean. Washing up facilities and fridge freezer available. Quiet spot but a busy road opposite so louder during the day. Pub next door and less than a mile walk to the lake. No children allowed to stay.

Superb location and an outstanding stay

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

This is one of the best sites we stayed at in the Lake District with our Motorhome. The owners were very flexible and very helpful to us, over accommodating an additional night's stay, and this was one of the spots which would best accommodate our motorhome (over 7m long). Facilities are all you need - electric power, fresh water, showers and toilets. Don't expect luxury but all were exactly as needed and totally suited for purpose. The site is small and perfect for a quiet stay without hordes of vehicles or being surrounded by people. Less than 20 pitches in total - perfect to not feel inundated with other visitors or vehicles, and no tents allowed so again, this is perfect if this is what you are looking for. The location is perfect for the tranquillity and solitude of Thirlmere Lake. Not one of the busiest, which was perfect for us as it was almost deserted and we only saw a handful of other people - even though our visit was in August, in the height of summer and in the middle of school holidays. Stunning walking around the area, including around Thirlmere, easy access to Hevellyn, and also access to the fast becoming more and more popular (but prior to the age of Insta, mostly little known / "secret") "infinity pools" and waterfalls. Spectacular views and only a 30-45min walk from the site. The buses to Keswick / Kendall and direct into Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere etc. are directly outside the site (no walking distance at all) so absolutely perfect location for getting on and off in either direction north or south. The positioning of the King's Head pub is right next door (less than a 1min walk!) so again an absolutely perfect position - superb food and drink on offer there and very friendly staff with beautiful outdoor space and and very cosy indoor space for when it's colder. Some reviews I noticed before booking had commented on the noise from the main road as the site is very near the road. We hardly even noticed this while we were staying there, if at all over 3 days - so for us this was not even remotely a factor and shouldn't put people off unless you are looking for ultra tranquillity and ultra peace and quiet. The quietness of the site itself with a more limited number of pitches far outweighed any inconsequential noise we might have very occasionally noticed from the road. Really though, this is not a factor. I guess for families and young kids looking for play areas and a bar / entertainments, shop etc on-site then this is probably not the site for you, however the very quick and uber-easy access to walks, spectacular views, lake, waterfalls, etc etc are awesome. We would highly recommend this site - just don't expect ultra modern or ultra luxurious facilities. But for us, this was by far our favourite site in the Lake District which we stayed at. And so for us, it was perfect all round.
