About the site

Set on the edge of the North York Moors, the site offers a peaceful, adult only glamping escape surrounded by open countryside. The luxury site sits beside six acres of meadowland with amazing views, while the market town of Helmsley is around a 30 minute walk away. All of the glamping pods feature a comfortable king-size bedroom with bedding provided, along with a sofa and dining area for relaxing. They also have a fully equipped kitchen with a hob, oven or grill, microwave, L'Or coffee machine and fridge, as well as a smart TV, WiFi, Bluetooth speakers and a private ensuite bathroom. Fluffy towels, eco-friendly toiletries, tea, coffee, milk and treats are also provided. Outside, each pod has its own decking area with outdoor seating, a Kadai BBQ fire pit and a wood-fired hot tub. Coppice and Campion are dog friendly and feature enclosed decking, giving four-legged guests a little extra freedom to enjoy the outdoors safely. For an extra special stay, guests can upgrade to the Meadow Spa pod. Alongside the same luxury facilities as the other pods, it has a roll-top bath beneath a star-gazing roof and a private sauna for two. With the North York Moors on the doorstep, there are plenty of walking routes and scenic places to explore nearby. Helmsley is home to independent shops, restaurants and historic attractions, while York is around a 35 minute drive away for a day of sightseeing.

Each glamping pod has its own ensuite bathroom, kitchen and access to satellite WiFi. Complimentary eco toiletries, tea, coffee, milk and treats are provided. Optional extras include a cheese board and BBQ packs. Parking is a short walk from the pods in a main car park.

Beadlam Grange Farmshop and Bistro is a 15 minute walk away for local produce and dining out. Multiple other eateries are within a 35 minute walk or five minute drive, including La Trattoria and The Rose and Crown, Nawton.

A note from the site themselves...

We're Karen and Darren, your hosts, and we're delighted to welcome you to Helmsley Meadows. Our dream has always been to create a peaceful place where people can slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a relaxing escape on the edge of the North York Moors.

After a two-year search, we found this special spot in 2023. Helmsley Meadows has a fascinating history, with the former railway line between Pickering and Helmsley running through the site from 1871 to 1964. The original Crossing Keeper's Cottage still stands here today and has been carefully transformed into a two-bedroom holiday cottage.

Over the past year, we've continued developing the site, designing and building four bespoke adult-only cabins. Each has its own character, but all have been created with the same focus on comfort, thoughtful design, and the beautiful natural surroundings.

We live on site and are nearby if you need anything, but we've designed each stay to give you plenty of privacy and independence. With your own outdoor space and views across the meadows, you can truly switch off and enjoy the surroundings at your own pace.

Just five minutes away, Helmsley Castle offers a glimpse into more than 900 years of history. The ruins stand above the town and reward visitors with wonderful views across the countryside.

Also only five minutes from the park is the National Centre for Birds of Prey (NCBP). Home to one of the largest collections of birds of prey in northern England, the centre offers visitors the chance to see eagles, hawks, falcons, owls and vultures up close.

For a classic Yorkshire experience, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is around 20 minutes away. This heritage steam railway journeys through the scenery of the North York Moors National Park, passing charming stations, rolling countryside and woodland.

Another highlight is Castle Howard (20 minutes). One of Britain's finest stately homes, it is surrounded by gardens, lakes and sweeping parkland. Visitors can admire the grand interiors, stroll through landscaped grounds and enjoy seasonal displays throughout the year.
