About the site

The site sits as the highest campsite in Pembrokeshire! It's a quiet spot which is shared with just a few others and you can enjoy seven acres of gently re-wilding clover pasture fields, set on the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. From the site, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Preseli Hills and the county's beautiful scenery. You'll also have plenty of space to stretch out and fly a kite, spot wildlife, toast treats on the campfire or just watch the dazzling sunsets. The site is generally a car free environment (cars are allowed for pick up and take down) so a safe place for young ones to play and there is a mown area for a kickabout and kite flying in the middle of the field. Lovingly designed and made by Steve and Elfrys themselves, the shepherd's huts offer a glam break with lots of comfort. They're set along the field's edge, each offering the convenience of a fitted kitchen, ensuite bathrooms, beds and comfy sofa beds. The shepherd's huts here even offer their own exclusive hot tub hire for the ultimate treat! One member of every party staying on or in the huts must be a member of the Greener Camping Club, but you can join when booking at just £12 per year. Having lived here for many years (or since birth, in Elfrys' case!) Steve and Elfrys have extensive knowledge and experience of Pembrokeshire's outdoor activities. They're always on hand with suggestions and the site is centrally located for all of its 186 miles of Pembrokeshire's beautiful beaches, coastline and villages along with some of Ceredigion's too.

Open all year.

A note from the site themselves...

Welcome to our site, we are Steve and Elfrys. We have been welcoming guests and friends for over twelve years, firstly at our bed and breakfast, then in our added shepherd's huts. Later came the addition of our gently rewilding campsite, in our wild flower and clover-rich fields.

Steve loves outdoor pursuits and Pembrokeshire is perfect for climbing, canoieng, sailing, walking, coasteering and much more.

Elfrys was actually originally born here and I joined once we were married. This means we are now experts on the area and can always give advice on where to go. We both hope to welcome you soon!

Things to do on site and in the Maenclochog area

Brynhaul is tucked by the edge of the wonderful Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park. Take a 15 minute stroll into the sleepy village of Maenclochog and treat yourself to a cuppa and bite to eat in Caffi'r Sgwar or quench your thirst at the friendly local, the Globe Inn.

The next village is Rosebush, with a fairly unique, grade two listed, community pub/restaurant, Pantmaenog forest for walking and cycling, a cheese farm, old slate quarries and a hidden lake. Llys y Fran Lake Country Park, with its walks, cycling and adventure centre is only 3 miles away.

The stunning glaciated Gwaun Valley is about 5 miles and there are more than 180 miles of beautiful beaches, coastline, villages and attractions to explore from this central location.

Nearby also are Castell Henllys Celtic Fort, The Shire Horse Farm, Folly Farm Zoo, Oakwood Adventure Park and the Welsh Wildlife Centre, to name a few.

For active types the rolling Preseli Hills and coastal path along the Pembrokeshire coastline are a huge hit, along with tempting cycle rides through the countryside. The walking and cycling is magnificent, canoeing and kayaking reaches stunning parts, sailing is sublime and some of the best sea cliff climbing is not far away, along with amazing wildlife.
