Croft Cottage has a small campsite that families love and a well equipped lodge that sleeps 6. The pitches are located around the outside of the paddock leaving the centre available for playing volleyball and badminton, there is also a netball post and small football goal. Children enjoy feeding the chickens and alpacas every morning.

About the site

Croft Cottage campsite is situated on the north west border of the New Forest National Park set in two acres of gardens, a paddock and a camping field of just under one acre. It is a quiet site, suitable for families and couples. It's around 30 minutes' drive from the beaches at Bournemouth, the cathedral city of Salisbury and Southampton with its large shopping centres and heritage sites. The camping field has 15 marked pitches (12 with electric) measuring about 10 metres x 7 metres on short mown grass. It is a well drained, very pretty, sheltered and level site, with pitches set around the outside of the field. The centre is left as a play area and has a volleyball, badminton, netball and football goal. Fires are permitted in a fire pit (not supplied) as long as they are placed on a slab, excluding the Alpaca Paddock (adult only section) which is campfire free. One well behaved dog is also welcome on each pitch, kept on a lead at all times on the site There is also a well equipped lodge on site that sleeps six.

The campsite is open from 22 May - 25 May, Friday 24 July - Sunday 16 August, and then Friday 28 August - Monday 31 August. The lodge is available all year round.

The site is kept small and hence only has one male and one female toilet, plus one unisex toilet, all of which have hot and cold wash facilities. There are also two showers and one washing up sink.

There is a pub within 10 minutes walk of the site, and access to the open forest via a footpath 100m from the entrance.

Fires in fire pits and stood on slab (slab provided).

No field games or loud music after 10pm or when dark.

We are sorry we do not take single sex groups or people under 21 years old, unless they are part of a family group.

Things to do on site and in the Fordingbridge area

Onsite activities include volleyball for adults and children, feeding the alpacas in the morning and feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs. There is a badminton net, volleyball net, netball post and football goal in the centre of the site and volleyball matches are organised in the evenings, weather permitting.

Sandy Balls Holiday Village is open to the public and offers shops, beauty therapy, swimming pool (the swimming pool is sometimes not available during the school summer holidays), adventure playgrounds, bike hire, restaurants, and beautiful walks down to the River Avon.

You are within walking distance of Arnis Riding Stables here which also has direct access to the open forest.

There are many local attractions including Paultons Park, Beaulieu Motor Museum, and Moors Valley Country Park to name just a few.

The New Forest National Park is a wonderful place to explore with its ponies roaming free (be careful when driving especially at night), rivers, brooks, woodland and heathland, there is a wealth of wildlife to discover.
