Brockenhurst campsites
Brockenhurst, meaning "badgers home" in Celtic, is one of the largest villages in the New Forest, whilst retaining an air of old world charm. It is here that ponies, donkeys and cows roam freely, and drink from the watersplash at the bottom of the main street on their way to graze the open heathland and ancient woods that surround the village. These Brockenhurst campsites have something to offer everyone.

While it may seem like a typical town, there’s a mystery hidden beneath every pavestone on the Brockenhurst Spy Mission Treasure Trail. Your circular route begins at the railway station from where you can visit the Anzac War Memorial and the last resting place of Brusher Mills, who rather fantastically was renowned as the New Forest snake catcher! The route is supposed to take around three hours to complete but with so much to see, pack a picnic and fill a day.
The village has attractive churches that will entice visitors with an interest in architecture. These include St Saviour's Church and the Parish Church of Saint Nicholas. The local churchyard contains a 1000 year old Yew which some believe to be the oldest tree in the forest.
The varied terrain makes it a cycling destination for all ages and abilities but it’s most suited to recreational riders, couples and family groups. Cyclexperience and Country Lane Cycle hire offer premium bike hire in the heart of the New Forest National Park.
Many parts of the forest, hidden to the motorist, are easily accessible by bicycle on designated gravel tracks. Horse riding is another activity well catered for by the town and local riding establishments cater for all ages and abilities.

If you prefer your animals to be of the slithery and scaly kind then get down to the New Forest Reptile Centre. There’s nothing fuzzy or fluffy here! See all of Britain’s reptiles in one place, such as adders, grass snakes, smooth snakes, lizards, frogs and toads. All of the reptiles are kept in enclosures that mimic their natural environment, which means the best chance of seeing them is on a warm sunny day!
