About the site

This tranquil site is set within rolling farmland and is a nature lovers paradise. Spot the site's friendly hens, or watch the ducks skim around the pond. Meet up with friends, relax and enjoy a refreshing drink at the onsite bar 'Champers for Campers', or a freshly made pizza from the onsite pizza airstream G Papa J's Pizza. The site has collaborated with Natural England to install nest boxes for various bird species that have seen a decline in numbers in recent years. Through the campsite app, you can watch live feeds from webcams set up in some of the bird boxes. There's also a good chance of seeing one of the rehabilitated hedgehogs that the site look after with local wildlife carers. There are a selection of secluded hardstanding touring pitches with 32 amp electric, surrounded by evergreen trees, and fully serviced pitches with 32 amp electric, water and waste connections. All pitches are generously sized so there's plenty of space for you to set up your table and chairs outside. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

A note from the site themselves...

I have always been passionate about camping and love the outdoors. As a York Minster trained cabinet maker and joiner, the entire site has been built by myself. My father was a coal miner, and he encouraged hard work and ideas. My Grandad was a carpenter, and I followed in his footsteps.

I wanted to build a fantastic campsite that provides excellent access to York and the Yorkshire surrounding attractions. At Flaxton Meadows, I have incorporated many things that cannot be found in other campsites such as top quality showers and toilets.

In today's eco world, you can say that you have stayed at an eco campsite and made a huge contribution to the environment. There is a fantastic sense of community here as we don't pack campers and caravans in, so there's lots of space to enjoy the wildlife. You won't be disappointed!

Twin Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding PitchesApr 2025

Our first visit to this quiet adults only relaxing site.with fantastic spotlessly clean facilities, nature trail, dog walking area, nice well stocked bar/lounge, Sky sports and a pizza van. Everything is on your doorstep with York being 6 miles away and the east coast less than an hour away. The nearest village is Strensall with shops, fuel station and a late night Londis shop. The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesApr 2025

We booked Flaxton meadows on the morning of out stay )( was a last minute decision to go away for the weekend) We arrived and was shown to our pitch by very friendly staff, and settled in for the day/ night . Next morning we had a shower in what can only be described be described as very clean and quirky themed cubicles In the afternoon had a few pints and watched lthe football in the fantastic bar and again very friendly staff were very chatty. We had had a pizza from the pizza oven/ van on site which was ok. We are new to the motor home game but can honestly say this is the best site we have been on and will definitely recommend it to our family and friends, we will definitely be going back
