About the site


The park enjoys a fantastic location for exploring The Lake District, less than ten minutes from the top of Lake Windermere. The site is also surrounded by woodlands, with over 100 acres of walking trails to explore, along with a nature hide and a four acre recreation ground. For trailer tents, campervans, caravans and motorhomes, there are 130 hardstanding 6m x 8m pitches with optional 16 amp electric hook up. Or, you can upgrade to one of the 30 premium hardstanding 9m x 12m pitches with water, grey waste drainage, optional 16 amp electric, TV hook up and picnic bench, plus access to eco dishwashers (one token per night). Glamping options include a cosy ensuite hideaway pod with a double sofa bed, kitchen, TV and outdoor deck. Families can opt for a larger pod sleeping six, with two doubles and a kids' mezzanine. Safari tents include a super king, bunks, kitchen, ensuite and deck, or a romantic two-person tent with a queen bed, kitchen, smart TV, heating and hot tub. There is a large, well-stocked shop featuring everyday essentials as well as lots of locally sourced produce and gifts. Kids can spend hours at the play area, with a 30m long zip wire, an all weather basketball/football court, climbing frames and swings. Dogs are also welcome, with up to three permitted per pitch. The surrounding routes are perfect for exploring, with a dog shower for muddy paws afterwards! In the evening, you can cook up a BBQ, just please ensure they are raised from the ground, and not placed on a bench or decking area. Please note, open fires and wood burning BBQs are not allowed.

The site's facilities include modern shower and toilet blocks, with two of the blocks also having underfloor heating. There is also a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers, a dog wash, BBQ area and EV charging points. A large drying room is available for wet waterproofs and boots, with a vending machine serving coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

The reception and shop stocks essentials and local produce. Eco dishwashers are available for £1 per use, or included within the price of a premium pitch. There is a trust library with free-to-borrow books. For kids, there is an adventure playground including a 30m long zipwire and an all weather sports court. Guests can explore onsite woodland walks, a nature hide and a four acre recreation ground.

The Talbot Bar and Chester's By The River cafe are within a five minute drive. Ambleside is also a ten minute drive away for more shops and restaurants.

Things to do on site and in the Ambleside area

Only ten minutes away is the National Trust - Wray Castle, a fairytale-style castle on the shores of Lake Windermere. Families can wander inside the rooms, learn about its history, and then head outdoors for lakeside walks and picnic spots with stunning views.

A 15 minute drive takes you to Rydal Cave, a huge man-made cavern. A short walk along peaceful woodland paths brings you to the cave, where stepping stones lead across a shallow pool.

Just ten minutes away in Ambleside, you'll find Waterhead Pier, where you can hop on a boat with Windermere Lake Cruises. This is one of the best ways to see the beauty of the Lake District, taking a trip across England's largest lake while spotting mountains and wildlife along the way.

If you're after more adventure, Brockhole on Windermere is only 15 minutes from the park. Here you'll find treetop nets, zip lines, adventure playgrounds, boat hire, and beautiful gardens to explore. It's the perfect place for family fun!
