Boyd Valley Lake is a family run site located halfway between Bristol and Bath with a large onsite fishing lake for anglers and wildlife enthusiasts. The site offers non electric camping and touring pitches on several camping fields. There are also two bell tents sleeping up to four each which can be furnished at an additional cost.

About the site


Situated just off the main A431, halfway between the historic cities of Bath and Bristol, Boyd Valley Lake is placed to explore many local attractions. This back-to-basics site is home to several fields with non electric grass pitches for camping and touring. Choose where to pitch, with Badger and Fox fields for tents, campervans and motorhomes and Hedgehog field for tents only. There are also two canvas bell tents onsite that sleep up to four. These are unfurnished but can be furnished with beds, bedding and blankets for an additional cost. They can be hired as a pair or individually. You'll also find a one and a half acre coarse fishing lake, with rod hire available. The lake is filled with Carp, Barbel, Bream and many more species. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead and supervised at all times. BBQs are allowed but must be raised off the ground. Open fires are only permitted in raised fire pits and these must be hired from the site with wood.

Facilities include a basic toilet and shower block with one male and one female shower and a washing up area, a short walk from the pitches in the Badger field. Fire pits are also available for hire onsite.

There is a Premier shop less than a five minutes away and larger supermarkets can be found in Longwell Green, a ten minute drive away.

There are several pubs under a five minute drive away, The Upton, The White Hart, The Swan Inn and The Dolphin Inn.

Yes, Boyd Valley Lake is a dog friendly site. However, please note they do not accept any breeds/crossbreeds in the Dangerous Dog Act. They also don't allow any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Please arrive at Boyd Valley Lake between 2-9pm and make sure you have departed by 11am.

BBQs are permitted at Boyd Valley Lake but must be raised off the ground. Fire pits are only permitted in raised fire pits and these must be hired from the site.

Yes, Boyd Valley Lake ask that there is no loud noise between 10pm and 7am.

There is no reception area on site. When you arrive, choose where to pitch, with Badger and Fox fields for tents, campervans and motorhomes and Hedgehog field for tents only. The toilet block, washing up and recycling areas are located at the top of the Badger field.

Boyd Valley Lake caters for families and couples only, and does not accept group bookings. Please note that single sex group bookings of 4 or more are not permitted.

Yes, you can fish in the lake at Boyd Valley Lake for a daily fee. The lake is filled with carp, barbel, bream and more and there is also rod hire onsite. Please note that you'll need to make sure you've got a rod licence to fish in the lake.

The closest bus stop to Boyd Valley Lake is in Bitton Village, a 20 minute walk away. You can take the 37 bus to both Bristol and Bath.

What's nearby

For a family friendly day out, Boyd Valley Lake just 15 minutes to Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park.

Half an hour to Bristol where you can find great days out at the Aquarium and Zoo or catch a show at the Bristol Hippodrome.

A 20 minute drive in the other direction will take you to Bath city centre. You'll be greeted by an array of shops, restaurants, and pubs. Also, home to the historic Roman Baths.

It is recommended that you follow the directions on Google Maps to find Boyd Valley Lake. Onsite, please avoid driving through long grassy areas.

Things to do on site and in the Bristol area

This site has easy access to both Bath and Bristol, with bus stops a 20 minute walk away in Bitton Village where you can take the 37 bus to either city.

Bristol, just 30 minutes away, has a range of things to do, from shops, restaurants, museums and famous sights, including Bristol Cathedral, Clifton Suspension Bridge and SS Great Britain.

Bath is just 20 minutes in the other direction. Visit the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Royal Crescent or the Jane Austen Centre.

Other local places to visit include:
