This site has grass pitches for tents tucked away in a woodland area. Walk directly from the site, snooze in a hammock, sit around the firepit to just look up at the stars, in one UK's few dark sky reserves.

About Pitch and Hike
This picturesque, back to basics site is hidden away in the hills and is a must for hikers cyclists and climbers who are looking to base themselves in the Snowdonia National Park. The site is also the perfect retreat for the less energetic if you just want to relax. Immerse yourself in the wildlife and scenery or toast a marshmallow on a firepit and look up at the stars. The site provides non electric grass tent pitches in a beautiful woodland area. Hammocks are also available to rent onsite for a true camping experience. Being centrally placed, the site provides easy access to all the main mountain ranges, the Snowdonia Slate Trail and major gravel trails. This site is truly the ultimate location for explorers and hikers. Only hired fire pits are available on site. Sorry dogs are not permitted, so please leave your four-legged friends at home. Please note, that there is no parking onsite, there is an option to park at the Tyn y Coed pub for £10, or there are good public transport links nearby.
The site is closed from 24th January to 21st March.
Onsite facilities include toilets and sinks. The site offers fire pits for hire. Logs, kindling and fire lighters can also be purchased on site.
There is a Spar ten minutes from the site in Betws-Y-Coed. The Tyn-y-Coed pub is just a 15 minute walk away.

This site was perfect for getting away from it all, it is located in Gwdhir forest, which is incredibly beautiful. Mel the host arrived as we did, you just give her a quick ring, number on entrance gate. She checked if we would like a different pitch, supplied us with an amazing hammock, which was peaceful and sooo comfortable. If you get a clear night, there is no light pollution to see stars and if you have not slept in a hammock, it's a special experience. The climb up to the site is quite steep and has no vehicle access so be aware it is pitch and hike and you will have to carry your belongings up. We travelled with tent and backpacks and it was very manageable but it is definitely for walkers. We had a fire pit and log pack brought to us by Mel who actually could not have been more friendly or more help. The fire pit is £5 a night and small cut logs were provided around to sit on. The campsite has fresh drinking water and lovely clean toilets and sink. We bathed in streams and waterfalls and walked miles from this base including Swallow Falls, Betws-y-Coed and the unmissable fairy glen. There is a bus stop outside the campsite entrance and a café, which serves a lovely breakfast, it costs around £11 for a full English. I personally went to unwind after having a lot of work and personal pressure and could not have picked a more ideal or beautiful place. I highly recommend this campsite if you're serious about getting away from it all. We felt like we were in lord of the rings country! Delighted with our stay. Thank you Mel and Dave. Enchanting!

Things to do on site and in the Betws Y Coed area
Hike to the Yr Wyddfa mountain peak (20 minutes), the highest peak in the Snowdonia National Park standing at over 3000 feet. This isn't for your average hiker but the views at the top are breathtaking.
The Village of Bangor is just 30 minutes away. Visit Penrhyn Castle known for its history and architecture or walk down Garth Pier for great views of the coast.
If that isn't enough the National Slate Museum is just 25 minutes from the site. Take a trip into the past and learn more about the country's rich history.
