About the site

The site is set in the countryside and is just a ten minute walk to the local village of Rudston, with several footpaths and bridleways to explore (ideal if you're staying with your four-legged friends). The coast is also just a ten minute drive away, and for some wonderful wildlife spotting, Flamborough Head is a 20 minute drive away, and if you're lucky, you might even spot the puffins. Sheltered within the walls are 52 spacious 8m x 12m grass pitches, all with 16 amp electric hook-up. Each pitch welcomes up to six guests with WiFi included (signal cannot be guaranteed), and access to a TV aerial socket, but guests will need to bring a long coax cable with them. If glamping is more your thing, you can stay in one of the comfortable 5m bell tents, Barn Owl and Kingfisher. Perfect for couples, the bell tents are equipped with a double bed, a chest of drawers a bistro table and chairs and a power point for charging all devices. Outside, there are two deck chairs and a fire pit, perfect for al fresco dining in the evenings. There is a large games field where guests can play cricket, football, frisbee, fly kites or simply relax and enjoy a family picnic. It is also a popular area for walking dogs as the footpath will take you directly to the village. There is also an onsite coarse fishing pond (licence, terms and charges apply). BBQs are allowed onsite but must be raised off the ground. Up to three dogs can also join you for your stay, with plenty of surrounding walks and a large onsite field to stretch their paws.

The site is open between March and November, bell tents are available between Easter and September. Pitches from £27/night for 2 people.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring PitchesMay 2026

Lovely welll set out campsite. Exactly as illustrated in the marketing material. The camps are within walled gardens are beautiful. The site was quiet, well maintained with help available if required. The shower blocks and washing facilities are spotlessly clean. Hairdryers located there too. Washing machines and dryers available for this that need then. One suggestion might be to include picnic tables- but- they come at a cost if people don’t clean up. Additionally, they would lead to a noisier campsite.

A note from the site themselves...

As the managers of Thorpe Hall Caravan and Camping Site, we're delighted to be able to call it home, albeit for eight months of the year! We love that we are a rural, quiet and peaceful site and take pride in what we do so that all of our guests, old and new, have a fantastic and safe stay with us.

We love the surrounding countryside, and our location here means that on an early morning or late evening walk, we will sometimes see deer, owls, hares and woodpeckers, which is a joy and a privilege.

Keen to encourage wildlife, we try to choose flowers and shrubs that attract bees and butterflies. In addition, we've bird and bat boxes around the estate and leave wild areas to encourage insects and small animals.

Being experienced campers/caravanners ourselves and having toured much of the UK, some of France and Spain, we love the lifestyle and freedom that touring can give you. We enjoy meeting our guests, hearing about their adventures and using our personal experience to help and support those that are new to the world of touring. We all started out on that nervous journey once!

We hope to continue developing the site to create 'the place' that people visiting the area want to stay at.
