Things to do in Filey
Pop your flip flops or sandals on and head down to the beach after arriving at Filey. Walk along the sandy shores and shingles before enjoying a paddle in the water. Stay all day to watch the sunset whilst on an evening stroll to Filey Brigg.
Filey is also known for its location on the Cleveland Way footpath. Admire the stunning scenery as you walk along parts of this National Trail to Filey Brigg.
If you’re not looking for seaside action, bring a picnic to enjoy at Glen Gardens. Kids can enjoy spotting the wildlife whilst older members of the family can whet their appetite in the café. Afterwards, aim for that all important hole in one in a round of crazy golf.
Take the kids to meet the animals at the Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park. See the miniature ponies and the meerkats before admiring the smaller critters in the Wildflower Meadow as well as the Wildlife Pond.
You can also enjoy spotting wildlife at Filey Dams Nature Reserve. Enjoy a picnic by the pond before bringing your binoculars to the bird watching hides.
Enjoy sightseeing with a twist on the Filey Mystery Treasure Trail. Work together with your budding detectives to solve the clues as you follow the hints hidden around different monuments and signposts around the town – a fun way of exploring the area!
After cracking all the clues, soak up the history of the town at the Filey Museum. Admire the fossils and artefacts as you wander through the museum – kids can enjoy some of the interactive displays on offer here too.
Head out of the town and treat the kids with a visit to Sea Life Scarborough. From sharks to sea turtles and penguins to seals, little ones can enjoy spotting the marine life around the centre. Or soak up the medieval history with a tour of Scarborough Castle. Admire the breathtaking views over the Yorkshire coastline before relaxing with a coffee at the Master Gunner’s house.
