About the site

Overlooking Croyde Bay, this family friendly site makes for the perfect base for those looking to chill out on the beach or catch some waves. Situated on the South West Coast Path, this also makes for a popular destination for keen walkers and even climbers looking to explore Baggy Point. The site welcomes tents, campervans and small motorhomes (6.5 metres in length max) across its range of grass and hardstanding pitches, half of which offer electric hook up. The site offers three types of pitches, small, medium and large, so check your tent or campervan size before booking your desired pitch. A range of the non electric grass pitches also enjoy views out over the beach and bay, the perfect spot for watching the sunset with a chilled beer or glass of wine. Water sports enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice. Rent surfboards, bodyboards, paddleboards and wetsuits from the onsite surf hut and enjoy spending your days out on the water! BBQs are welcome onsite, just please ensure they are raised from the ground. Bricks can be provided. Open fires are prohibited. Sorry, dogs are not allowed.

Facilities include separate male and female toilet blocks, each with three toilets and three hot showers, two of which have a small private changing area. Outside, there are two additional showers, one hot and one cold. Guests also have access to two washing up areas and a 24/7 fridge/freezer in the Cool Hut shack. Battery charging points for mobiles and tablets are available, and free WiFi is provided across the pitches.

Inside the reception, there is a small shop stocking cold drinks, ice cream, chocolates, camping essentials, and merchandise. The surf hire offers a wide selection of surfboards for all levels, as well as bodyboards, paddleboards, wetsuits, and more. This operates from Easter through September, open from 8am - 7pm on weekdays and 8am - 9pm on weekends.

Biffen's Kitchen Food Truck is open onsite from April to September, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

For additional supplies, the nearest shop is the Nisa Local at Ruda Holiday Park, just a five minute walk away, or the Croyde Village Shop, around a 15 minute walk. The nearest pubs include The Thatch, Billy Buds, The Manor, and Blue Grove, all within a 20 minute walk.

A very nice, small site, with narrow pitches. Very friendly welcome on a very wet day. Loved the eco credentials.....metal washing up bowls, metal bolts on toilet doors, plenty of recycling facilities. Loved the extra touches, i.e. Deodorant spray, tampons and air freshener in the girls shower block, washing up liquid. Washing up area could have done with hotter water at times. Easy access to beach, and facilities to 'de Sand' wetsuits etc. Liked the no audible music rule.

Really enjoyed our stay at Ocean Pitch. Great pre-arrival communication. Great welcome, and site tour, on arrival. Pitches are relatively closely positioned, with ropes dividing, but wasn't an issue, and the ropes are useful for drying clothes/wetsuits etc. Washroom facilities are a little basic, but adequate, and with wonderful strong and hot showers. Great food offering via 2 street vendors. Good WiFi across the site. But the best thing has to be the location, with the beach only minutes away. Happy to stay here again.

The site offers plenty of fun activities, with surf hire among the most popular options.

Learn how to ride the waves with Surfing Croyde Bay, which is highly regarded as one of the best places to learn how to surf here in the UK. They offer both professional surfing lessons and exciting coasteering experiences for those looking to get up close to the coast.

The South West Coastal Path is also less than a five minute walk from the site, with walking and cycling routes. You can follow the trail 20 minutes down the coast to Baggy Point, a National Trust headland where you can spot seabirds nestling on the cliffs.
