Things to do when camping in Devon
As one of the UK's most popular destinations, particularly for family holidays and beach breaks, there are options for glamping in Devon to suit everyone.
Any glamping trip will add a little more of the great outdoors to life and Devon's camping and glamping pods are no exception. From booking the simplest of camping pods to put a solid roof over your head, to treating yourself to one of the areas ensuite pods or glamping pods with hot tubs.
You can choose a level of creature comforts to suit you and still feel like you're choosing an eco holiday!
There are lots of sites with pods in Devon, equally perfect for couples and family trips with younger children. You'll find a good number dotted along both coasts, as well as inland and close to Dartmoor and Exmoor.
There are other options for glamping with a hot tub too, each upping the ante on an outdoorsy holiday in beautiful countryside with extra relaxation built in. A wood-fired hot tub really adds to the feeling of adventure!
Yurts and Mongolian gers bring a touch of nomadic magic to a family glamping holiday and there are some lovely yurts in Devon - cosy and full of character - while wooden roundhouses are a modern and luxurious twist on the theme.
Shepherd's huts are a good choice for solo glampers and couples, often tucked away somewhere a bit more remote and romantic. Some of Devon's shepherd's huts have views to die for!
Larger families and groups of friends will love the county's safari tent glamping accommodation, very much up at lodge end of the luxury scale. These tents are great for groups of 4-8, normally coming with fully kitted out kitchens, bathrooms and lounge/dining areas, as well as 2-3 separate bedrooms. Most will also have large outdoor decking areas to take in some of Devon's beautiful countryside views.
While some might view other types of glamping accommodation as more unique, you can't beat a safari tent for adventures in comfort.
That said, Devon does pretty well at the unique end of glamping too, with glamping domes, Airstream caravans, a glamping igloo, a double decker bus and some jaw dropping treehouses!
