Silverhill Woodland Retreats is set in peaceful Silverhill Wood with plenty of space for families and couples to spread out. Onsite, there are electric grass, hardstanding and super serviced pitches for campers and tourers. Kids will love the playground, and there is also a small shop for essentials. Ideally located in the Nottinghamshire countryside with walking and cycling trails directly off the site and a great pub at the end of the road.

About the site

A rural campsite ideally located in Nottinghamshire's countryside, with lovely walks, hikes and cycle routes directly from the site. Onsite, enjoy a kids' playground, a small shop filled with everyday camping essentials, then head over to The Carnarvon Arms, a short 300m stroll away, for a tasty home cooked meal or a refreshing pint! There are 21 electric 8m x 5m grass pitches suitable for tents, trailer tents, and tourers. You will find 55 electric hardstandings for trailer tents, caravans, campervans, and motorhomes, plus a handful of super serviced pitches, offering the addition of fresh water taps and waste water points. Please note that all pitches allow up to six people and come with a 16 amp electric hook up. Scenic days out can be spent exploring Newstead Abbey, 20 minutes away, with 300 acre landscaped grounds, architecture, and incredible water features. Nottingham is also 30 minutes away if you fancy a city trip exploring popular attractions, taking riverside walks, and browsing shops and local markets! Up to four dogs are welcome onsite, but please ensure dogs are kept on their leads at all times.

Grass pitches are open from March to December and hardstanding pitches are open all year round. Pitches from £30/night for 2 people.

One facility block is at the entrance of the park with separate male and female facilities and is open 24/7. The shower facilities are free of charge and the block has underfloor heating. The ladies' and men's both have five shower rooms which include a shower, sink, toilet and mirror. The ladies' has an extra three toilet cubicles and two wash cubicles, whereas the men's has an extra two toilet cubicles, two wash cubicles and three urinals. There is a hairdryer in each which you can use for free.

There is a family room with a shower, toilet, sink, a baby bath, baby changing area and a baby seat, as well as a disabled shower room with a shower, toilet, sink and mirror, the shower has a seat and rails to assist. Also in the facility block is a washer and dryer, which takes pound coins and an iron and ironing board, which takes 20p coins. There are also washing up sinks here.

For your four-legged friends there is a doggy shower, and for little ones, there is a play area where they can let off some steam. There is a small onsite shop which is good for basic supplies. The Carnarvon Arms pub is 300m away.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesNov 2025

Lovely location for views and walks. Bonus fireworks while there. Washroom and service area were very well kept and clean. Short walk to the pub, which unfortunately for us isn't dog friendly, you have to sit outside with them (was rainy & cold), so we didn't get our Sunday roast as planned 😢 You think being a village country pub it would be dog friendly, even if it was only in the bar area like others. So for us it's a really nice site and area, but probably will not return because of the pub thing, as we like to eat out a bit while away.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry that the pub no longer takes dogs. There is a pub 3 miles away, the Hardwick Inn, that let dogs in. There are also lots of takeaways that deliver if you do ever want to visit again. Kindest Regards, Cheryl

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2025

The lady who greeted us on arrival was excellent. She was so friendly, helpful, polite and professional. We had to leave around 2am to attend a home emergency and she was so understanding and helpful. The toilet block was immaculate and very modern. The campsite was very quiet and well kept. I would highly recommend this campsite. Well done.

Large Tent - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

We were met by a very friendly member of staff on arrival, who was really helpful with information about the local area. The site was peaceful. We were in a tent but mostly vans and motor homes which ensured it was quiet at night. The showers and toilets were immaculate. My children loved these facilities and wanted a hot shower every night! We felt very secure on the site. It's in a good spot next to Silverhill woods. It's rural but near villages with supermarkets nearby. We liked the location but it was not as rural as we imagined however we will return as my kids loved it and is a great base to explore the area, Sherwood etc. thank you!

Check-in is available from 1pm until 8pm. Please advise the site if you are delayed. If the site has not heard from you by 8pm, they reserve the right to re-let your pitch. Departure is due before noon on your last day.

Yes dogs are welcome but must be kept on the lead at all times and not left unattended. Breeds and crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act are not permitted.

Open fires are not permitted and BBQs must be raised off the ground. Please do not burn wood.

The site does not accept group bookings unless by prior arrangement. Hen and stag parties are not accepted.

Yes, Silverhill Woodland Retreats does operate a quiet policy between 11pm and 7am.

Pitches

Both awnings and pup tents are allowed for a small nightly fee. Gazebos are not permitted.

Hi from the Welch family and the Silverhill team.

The team are delighted to share their love of camping/caravanning with the thousands of people who have come through the gates over the years. The previous owners designed the state of the art amenity block and included many of the facilities that they found useful when they camped.

Over the years the site has not stood still, making sure to improve the site and the experience for the customers. Static rental, holiday homes, a new play area, whatever it is we aim to do everything to the best of our ability. We welcome customers like returning friends and love what we do.

This a lovely retreat for nature lovers as there are 11 different local walking and cycling routes nearby, all mapped out and varying in both length and difficulty. Maps can be provided and routes range from 1.5 to 30 miles, including the Teversal Trails which are just waiting to be explored.

Newstead Abbey is just a 20 minute drive away, a converted medieval abbey house set over 300 acre grounds that boasts impressive architecture and pretty water features.
