About the site
A family friendly getaway, set within a national park, you can surround yourself in nature and wildlife. Watch the roe deer in the hedgerows, owls and buzzards flying high, or listen for the bats. You may even be lucky to spot a fox or a badger playing out over the surrounding farmland!
Perfectly located for walks along the bridleway that runs directly through the site or seeing the sights and attractions of Scarborough just ten minutes away and relaxing on one of the stunning beaches along the North Yorkshire coast. Access to the village is a short walk along the bridleway or choose a longer journey up and through the woods.
Set in a slightly sloping field with level areas designated for you to peg down your tent, the site offers just a few pitches across a four acre field in the centre of a 138 acre farm. With no electric, these are truly secluded, back to basic pitches.
In the evening enjoy roasting marshmallows over the campfire, whilst stargazing in one of the few dark sky reserves.
There are also two glamping pods onsite, both sleeping two guests making it the perfect romantic getaway. Each is fully equipped with heating, a kitchenette and has an ensuite bathroom with fluffy bathrobes and towels included for that hotel feel. Outside on the decking is a bubbly hot tub for soaking in the most of the countryside views.
This campsite is certified with The Greener Camping Club making sure your camping trip is responsibly offered with respect to nature and the environment. For every member enrolled a tree will be planted on site.

A note from the site themselves...
We started our site with the intention of keeping things simple and trying to reflect what we thought of the site. Peaceful, serene, off the beaten track and slightly wild. We like to think we have stuck to that and, all our guests have reflected that in their comments and resonated with the vibe of the place.
We are proud to welcome people here and love sharing our little peace of heaven!

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024
It's a fantastic little campsite that ticks all the boxes in a beautiful part of the country, in easy reach of Scarborough and Whitby.
It's not an easy site for anyone with mobility issues but as long as you know that, you can avoid. It's also not a good campsite if you hope to pitch tents as a group as the pitches are separated and choice of pitch is limited, based on availability.
We would definitely recommend and stay again though and the showers we nice and hot but with on / off only, you can't chose the temperature.
The only things that let it down are super easy quick fixes. Some solar lighting in the toilets, showers and sink area would be amazing. Juggling a torch and trying to use the loo is tricky. The toilet doors are a nightmare on springs, the toilets in the campervan area are much easier to use as they don't spring back on you whilst you're trying to step in and out.
Finally, a small bin or waste bag in the toilets is a must for sanitary towels and toilet roll tubes. Are you supposed to find your way to the bins in the dark, in the middle of the night, to dispose of used products? It's only a matter of time before the toilets get blocked from people trying to flush pads due to lack of bins!

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesAug 2024
Prospect House Park is well located in North Yorkshire. It was easy to travel to many coastal locations during my stay.
The site has great eco-credentials and the pitch areas well maintained. A horsebox had been repurposed as two toilets and shower, and there were additional toilets and showers/washing up facilities on the camping field.
The site is peaceful and a great place for an escape.
