About the site

Explore the nearby Lake District or escape everyday life from the peace of your own glamping pod, this peaceful countryside retreat is nestled in the Whitbarrow National Nature Reserve and is perfect for nature lovers. There are five cosy glamping pods for up to two people in a comfy king size bed with all bedding, linen and towels provided. Additionally you'll have an ensuite with a walk in shower, toilet, sink, heated towel rail and complimentary toiletries. You'll have your own well-equipped kitchenette complete with a two ring ceramic hob, toaster, kettle, microwave grill, fridge, crockery, pans and utensils. There's also a small dining area as well as a comfy sofa, USB sockets, WiFi, a Smart TV and and a hairdryer. Outside you'll have your own decking area with seating, a BBQ and a fire pit, perfect for a spot of al fresco dining whilst looking out over the spectacular views. Enjoy the countryside in peace and quiet or venture out to explore the stunning Lake District National Park. Dogs are welcome in just one of the pods, but must be kept on the lead. Open fires are welcome but only in the provided fire pits. Wood and charcoal may be purchased onsite.

Each pod has its own self-contained facilities. There is super fast WiFi, an electric car charging point, a bike storage facility and a warm drying room for walking gear.

Wood and charcoal may be purchased on site for use with the firepit/bbq.

A ten minute walk will take you to The Punch Bowl Inn and for food shopping, Kendal is a 15 minute drive away and has an Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys.

A note from the site themselves...

We started working on the groundwork for our campsite back in 2019 when Howard happily took early retirement! After lots of hard work, we were so pleased to finally open our doors to campers in August 2021.

After a few months, I also retired from working at our wonderful local pub, The Punchbowl Inn and now we both enjoy being onsite - Howard especially loves keeping the campsite tidy and cutting the grass!!! It's a real joy for us to meet all our lovely new guests and of course our regulars too.

We have always felt so lucky to live in the Lake District National Park, we really enjoy going out for walks and would now love to start exploring all the Wainwrights.

The Lake District is a special place and we hope you will love it too. Carole and Howard

A beautiful pod with matching beautiful views of rolling hills, Carole and Howard have thought of everything even down to the small but practical honesty shop including books and walks of the area to borrow.

Glamping Pod - Ensuite Glamping Pods May 2025

A lovely place for a stay around the Lakes. The pod was really nice and clean, had all the facilities and amenities needed, and great views. Location was excellent, was close to nearby towns & walks and good pubs for dinner. Would really recommend to anyone! Thank you to carol & howard :)

Glamping Pod - Ensuite Glamping Pods Feb 2025

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was absolutely perfect! The glamping pod was the most gorgeous I've ever seen! The cleanliness, the facilities and the heart-warming welcome and farewell from Carol and Howard topped it off! The perfect distance in being away from the business but also easy to get to both Kendal and Windermere. It is so well suited to many and I definitely will be recommending to others!

FAQ

Check-in is available from 4pm until 10pm, and departure is before 10am on your last day.
One well-behaved dog is welcome in the Fellside pod. Please bring your own dog bed or blanket and make sure they stay off the furniture. Do not leave them unattended. Guests must clean up after their dog and put waste in the onsite dog bin. Unfortunately, if you arrive with a dog without making a prior booking, you will be turned away.
As long as it's the fire pits provided onsite. Charcoal and wood are available to purchase. Guests must not use their own BBQs or firepits.
The site caters for older families and couples only. Group bookings of more than three are not permitted. Hen and stag parties are not accepted.
There is a designated parking area close by for one car per pod.
Yes. Damson View Glamping has super fast WiFi.
Yes. Bedding and towels are provided for your stay.
Tesco Express is a 15 minutes drive away from the site for essentials.
The Punch Bowl Inn is a ten minute stroll away.
There is one electric car charging point onsite, and pre-booking is needed. It is a slow charge and will take between 6 - 12 hours.

Things to do on site and in the Lyth Valley area

It's a 15 minute drive to Bowness on Windermere where you can catch a steamer, relax and take in the scenery. Ambleside and Grasmere are also worth a visit and don't forget to buy some famous Grasmere gingerbread. There are also lots of beautiful walks which can be started from Grasmere, Loughrigg, Helm Crag and Rydal Water to name just a few.

The Levens Hall and Gardens is a 15 minute drive away and is home to the world's oldest topiary garden! An impressive estate with stunning flora and fauna.

Fell Foot National Trust is a short drive from the site, around ten minutes away. It's a great place to access the lake and try some wild swimming or perhaps kayaking or paddleboarding.
