Things to do in Sidmouth
One of the most popular attractions in Sidmouth is Jacobs Ladder Beach, which is a popular spot with both sandy and pebble sections and some great cliff walks too. If you fancy seeing the coastline from a different angle, hire a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) or kayak from Jurassic Paddle Sports.
Walkers will love the Sidmouth to Seaton walk, along part of the South West Coast Path which stretches for over 630 miles along the coastline. Nearby Salcombe Hill also provides amazing views over Sidmouth and the Jurassic Coast, while the Byes Riverside Park is also very pleasant to explore.
Back in town, the pretty Connaught Gardens are well maintained and a great place to sit and relax, particularly in summer when the flowers are in bloom. Visitors who are keen to learn more about the history of the town should make time to visit the interesting Sidmouth Museum which has a great collection of Jurassic coast fossils.
Animal lovers of all ages will love the Donkey Sanctuary which houses over 500 donkeys. Alternatively, why not try your hand at riding - East Devon Riding Academy offers horse riding lessons for all abilities - or experience an unforgettable llama trek with Peak Hill Llamas. It’s an excellent way to explore Sidmouth’s beautiful landscapes in a fun and different way.
Manor Pavilion Theatre provides a variety of shows all year round including dance, music and comedy events that are great entertainment for a night out in Sidmouth. Another excellent attraction is the Norman Lockyer Observatory, which is ideal for people seeking evening entertainment that's a little different from the normal.
Other interesting places to visit nearby include Sand, a historic Elizabethan house and gardens, as well as the coastal towns of Exmouth and Lyme Regis.
