Matley Wood campsite is a seamless mix of forest and smaller open spaces. With a modest 70 pitches hugged by trees, this secluded site offers a compellingly beautiful woodland experience.

Ferns, open grasslands and ancient trees that weave their way skyward define Matley Wood's New Forest campsite.

The site's 70 grass-only pitches are suitable for tents, caravans and motorhomes. There is also a rally field. perfect for large groups with enough space for 50 pitches.

Non-members and pets welcome.

Leave the M27 at junction 3 on to the M271, signposted Southampton & The Docks. At the Redbridge Roundabout take the 2nd exit on to the A35, in a south westerly direction towards Totton and Lyndhurst. Continue on the A35 over two roundabouts, heading towards Lyndhurst. Just before Lyndhurst village there is a left hand turn on to Beaulieu Road, the B3056. Matley Wood is a short distance on the left hand side.

The closest rail station is at Beaulieu Road on the B3056 3/4 mile south of Denny Wood or 1/2 mile using the Forest footpath. Beaulieu Road Station is a request stop on the Weymouth to London Waterloo route. There is however no bus service from this station.

With nature taking pride of place, facilities at Matley Wood are limited, with no toilet or shower blocks, or electricity, though chemical toilet disposal is provided. A chemical toilet is required.
A great selection of restaurants, shops and pubs can be found in the village of Lyndhurst within walking distance.

The New Forest and surrounding area offers visitors to Matley Wood campsite a whole range of fun activities and family days out to enjoy. You can go horse riding and cycling in the forest or head a little further afield to one of the area's many attractions.

Lyndhurst is within walking distance of the campsite, or cycle (traffic-free) to Brockenhurst.

One of the best ways to see the New Forest is by bike. Cycle hire is available from Forest Leisure Cycling in Burley, the perfect base for easy access to the New Forest Trails, with rides and bikes for all ages! Trax Bike Hirealso offers a wide choice of bike to suit all age ranges and abilities.

  • The Huntsman Restaurant, Brokenhurst. A 13th century coaching inn full of character and charm
