About Spring Meadow Farm Campsite

Family and eco campsite located on the St Davids Peninsula at the western tip of Pembrokeshire, where the intoxicating fresh sea air is guaranteed to blow away any cobwebs. The wild and open landscapes, low horizons and craggy coastline are exhilarating to explore. There are five grass camping pitches and one deluxe pitch set within the two acres of level and secluded meadow. Originally part of a 13 acre market garden, the space is now divided into three paddocks, each surrounded and protected by willows. The spacious pitches all measure 10m x 10m, each pitch has a movable picnic table and a fire pit and is separated from its neighbour by an empty pitch. You are welcome to bring a gazebo for no extra charge providing that it fits on your pitch alongside your tent. The deluxe pitch has its own dedicated kitchen set alongside and is fully equipped with everything you'll need for your campfire suppers including a picnic table. Your own outdoor shower is next to the kitchen and your own fridge freezer is situated in the main shower block. All pitches allow up to five people. Being a little inland ensures the site is more sheltered. You'll be happy to carry on camping, while those on the cliffs are forced to decamp in high winds! Campfires are welcome when supervised and are a lovely touch on a summer's night.

Spring Meadow Farm Campsite is open from 17/05 to 01/09.

A note from the site themselves...

Spring Meadow Farm came into being back in the '90s when we transformed six bare fields into a 13-acre market garden and nursery. We supplied the local community and farmers' markets with fresh fruit, vegetables and plants.

We planted willow hedges to shelter our rhubarb, blackcurrants and strawberries in a small field away from the main road. Today, those same willows provide a sheltered haven for our campsite visitors. Also for goldfinches, willow warblers, tits and many other species of birds that come and go throughout the season alongside the summer migration of Pembrokeshire holidaymakers.

Working in harmony with nature has always been fundamental to our lives and lifestyle, so fields that once grew vegetables are now re-wilding and providing a sanctuary for wild birds, animals and insects. This is an ongoing project which we are pleased to share with anyone who appreciates the natural beauty of the countryside.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2023

This is such a wonderful place - it's so special to stay. We wanted to spend some time in nature and loved being tucked away under the trees (which were an excellent wind break, with a 30 - 40 knot winds). There are beautiful plants with bushes and grasses tumbling along the walk ways (in the way of Pembrokeshire) and pitches, and the pitches have a perfect amount of space. The facilities include lots of hot water, which is very welcome, a lovely fire pit and a picnic table. A lot of care has been put in to making Spring Meadow a beautiful and peaceful place to be.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

The owners are very friendly, helpful and work hard to keep the place clean and tidy. We weren't so lucky with the damp and breezy August weather but this sheltered and peaceful site felt like the perfect solution. The site has a uniquely comfortable character, thanks to the thoughtful layout and tree planting, and is the total opposite of the busy, exposed sites by the beaches. The location is convenient enough - a short drive from St Davids and numerous other places of interest. It would be great to return one day with bikes. We thoroughly appreciated the generous amount of space to ourselves. And the vegetables! Many thanks!

Site's response

Whitesands Bay is ten minutes away on the west coast and is a stunning sandy beach, great for any activity, from building sandcastles to body boarding or surfing. You can also get onto the coastal path from the car park and head in either direction to walk as many miles as you want. The accompanying sea and cliff-top views are stunning.

Keep a look out for choughs on the scrubby headlands as you approach St Davids Head (10 minutes). At the top of a long, stepped descent to a small inlet, look up and scan the horizon and you will pick up the outline of a neolithic burial chamber, Coetan Arthur. Keep going and don't miss the five hut circles guarding the point. If you're lucky, you may even be able to spot a school of porpoises off the point.

Abereiddy Bay is also just a ten minute drive from the campsite, a small beach, stony above the waterline, but sandy further in and a great beach for swimming. A steep walk up the coast path brings you to the Blue Pool, an old flooded slate quarry where organised coasteering parties create the opportunity for the more adventurous to jump into the blue waters below.

For a unique step back in time, head to Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, a 40 minute drive away. The attraction offers visitors the chance to be transported back to The Iron Age where you can meet traditional tribes and see how humans would have lived thousands of years ago.

Other nearby attractions include:

  • Solva Woollen Mill (5 minutes)
  • St Davids Old Farmhouse Brewery (5 minutes)
  • Thousand Islands Expeditions - Ramsey Island Ferry (5 minutes)
  • The Bug Farm (5 minutes)
  • Scolton Park- (30 minutes)
  • Carew Castle and Tidal Mill (50 minutes)
  • Manor Wildlife Park (55 minutes)
