About the site

A spacious campsite set just outside of Bakewell, in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside. The site is ideal for families, with Gulliver's Kingdom just a 25 minute drive away, and great for nature lovers too, being located in the Peak District National Park, home to walks, hikes, cycle trails, and more. Onsite, there are 45 electric grass pitches with a 16 amp electric hook up for tents, trailer tents, roof tents, and campervans up to 5m in length. Tourers can opt for one of the 140 hardstanding pitches (8m x 8m), each with a 16 amp electric hook up. All pitches hold uninterrupted views of the countryside! There is also a separate field on site, home to privately owned static caravan holiday homes. Days out can be enjoyed at Haddon Hall (10 minutes), Poole's Cavern (20 minutes), or the popular Carsington Water Visitor Centre (30 minutes), ideal for watersports, walks, and scenic views. Or head into Sheffield (45 minutes) for shops, eateries, gardens, galleries and more. Guests can also enjoy refreshing beers at the onsite bar! Dogs are welcome, provided they are kept on their leads.

Grass pitches are open from February to October while the hardstanding pitches are open from February to December. Pitches from £43/night for 2 people.

Onsite facilities include two heated unisex toilet and shower buildings with hot water, hairdryers, a washing up station, a laundry room and Elsan waste disposal points. There are two play areas for children to roam in, a large recreational field, and a small games room. You will also have access to a three acre dog walk and nature walk. Very quiet... good clean facilities and warm too! Pity everything was closed. Good communication from the site prior to arrival with pitch number. Place was a bit soulless..but I suppose it was just the time of year! Great tip for a walk into Ashford in the water for a drink. Location excellent for visiting Chatsworth House.

Please revisit during high season when the bar is thriving, food vendors are serving and music is playing outside of the bar. The Park closes on 30th November so weekdays tend to be very peaceful... Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesNov 2025

The site is clean and toilet and shower facilities spotless. Parking is a nightmare when grass next to pitches is wet, as cars need to park up by the clubhouse - very few spaces. We arrived in the dark and our pitch 147 was almost impossible to reverse onto with a caravan (fine for a motorhome). Very tight corners with added boulders that are just hazardous with a caravan at night. We had to manhandle the van onto pitch as we don't have a motor mover. Thank you to our neighbours, otherwise we wouldn't have managed. We contemplated trying to get off the pitch on Sunday, but in the end begrudgingly paid another £20 to get a tow off and at least saved our clutch and possibly our marriage.

Hi Deborah, Thank you for your feedback which is always appreciated. However, it's a shame to hear that you weren't happy with your allocated pitch. This would have been very easily solved if you had mentioned it during your stay as we would have been able to relocate you. The particular touring area where you were staying has been used for many years now and we haven't previously received any comments stating that it is difficult to manoeuvre around, but this depends on your towing experience. The "£20 tow off charge" is mainly in place as a deterrent to prevent customers from driving on the grass and getting stuck, but also used in situations like yourself where you required a member of staff to get the tractor out to tow your caravan from the pitch to the main car park, as your husband requested the day before your departure.

Famous for Bakewell tarts, the quaint village of Bakewell is just a five minute drive away, offering plenty to do and see, including Bakewell Old House Museum, Bakewell Visitor Centre, Weir Footbridge and more. Stroll along the River Wye, pop into local tea rooms or visit the open market held every Monday.

Haddon Hall, a Tudor manor with Elizabethan gardens, is less than ten minutes away, and the Monsal Trail, perfect for walking and cycling, is also within ten minutes.

The Peak District National Park is just ten minutes from the site, home to charming villages, museums, hiking and cycling trails and a great way to reconnect with nature.

Family days out can be spent at Matlock Farm Park (20 minutes), where kids can enjoy play areas, go-karting, and meet llamas and cattle. For adventure seekers, Poole's Cavern (20 minutes) offers underground cave tours and woodland walks.
