About the site

Situated in the Peak District National Park, this family run site is great for those seeking a countryside escape. Located next to a farm, the site provides a great taste of rural life. You can explore the local area with the Pennine Bridleway next door, and Bakewell is within 20 minutes, or simply unwind and enjoy the fresh country air. The site offers 50 spacious non electric grass pitches, suitable for tents and trailer tents, each measuring 10m x 10m. You are welcome to pitch where you like on arrival, and pitches also enjoy picturesque countryside views with sheep as your neighbours! The site is also a great base to explore the rest of the Peak District's towns and villages, including the charming Bakewell just 20 minutes by car, stroll along the River Wye and, of course, try a Bakewell Tart! Buxton is also 15 minutes by car and is full of Victorian and Georgian architecture and pretty gardens. Please note, due to the current dry weather, fire pits are not permitted. BBQs are still allowed. Up to two four-legged friends are welcome to join you for your stay.

Myself, my partner, and a friend stayed for two nights. Sweet Knoll was easy going and simple with all the facilities we needed, and more. Great toilets close by, along with showers, a fridge and a freezer. Only three miles (ish) from Castleton its a good walk into town. It is also just up the road from Peak Forest where the local pub does good ale and great food. Great stay. Exactly what we wanted.

Booked the site but did not receive any info on how to check in and checked the listing, but it didn't say anything. When we arrived we looked around for someone, saw a lady with a clipboard and she said to park anywhere. No other info given or conversation had. No probs, parked up. The facilities are all unisex and there is not enough. 3 fields full of tents and only two showers. I had to queue for the toilet and showers. The views are great but due to the facilities, we wouldn't return.

Got onto the campsite with ease however did not really get To see/ meet the owners to find out about the campsite. Also one of the toilets you could see through the gap into the next toilet.

What time is check-in and check out at Sweet Knoll Camping?

Check-in is anytime from 1pm until 9pm for camping and 2pm to 7pm for glamping. Please let the site know if you are delayed. Check out is before 11am on your final day. On arrival, you can pitch where you like, and if you have any questions, you may contact the site.

Is Sweet Knoll Camping dog-friendly?

Yes, dogs are welcome for those camping but they must be kept on their lead and not left unattended. Please note, breeds and crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act as well as Staffordshire bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers, Rottweilers, Mastiffs and Tosas are not allowed.

Does Sweet Knoll Camping allow groups or pitches being booked together?

Yes, small groups of up to 3 pitches are accepted and can be made on the same booking. Please note that group bookings of four or more pitches aren't allowed and Hen and Stag parties are also not accepted.

Does Sweet Knoll Camping have a quiet time or noise policy?

Yes, Sweet Knoll Camping does operate a quiet policy between 10pm and 6am.

Does Sweet Knoll Camping allow BBQs and campfires?

BBQs and fire pits are welcome at Sweet Knoll Camping, just please ensure these are raised from the ground. Disposable BBQs are also allowed, just please ensure they are raised off the ground and put in the hot ash bin when you are finished. Ground campfires are not permitted.

Yes, awnings, gazebos and pup tents are allowed. Please note, pup tents must fit within your pitch and can only be used for storage.

Can I park next to my pitch at Sweet Knoll Camping?

Yes, you are welcome to park one car or van on your pitch at Sweet Knoll Camping.

Things to do on site and in the Buxton area

Just 15 minutes away is the village of Castleton. Visit the Peak Cavern, Treak Cliff Cavern or the stone houses of Hope Valley. If you are into hiking, Mam Tor is 15 minutes from the site, passing through heather moors and reservoirs. You will be spoilt with views at the 517 metre peak.

If that isn't enough, the charming market town of Bakewell is just 20 minutes away. Enjoy a Bakewell tart sat along the River Wye or cycle through the Monsal Trail. Buxton (15 minutes) is full of pretty architecture and gardens, great for a day of mooching.

Kinder Scout (30 minutes) is the highest point in the Peak District, enjoying fabulous views over the National Park, so it is worth the hike up, passing streams and stony paths to get to the viewpoint.
