Things to do when camping in East Sussex
East Sussex sees thousands of visitors flock to the area year after year for its beautiful countryside, stunning coastline, and to take advantage of its vibrant arts and cultural scene and its rich history.
Museums and galleries are plentiful in the area. The Brighton Museum and Art Gallery boasts an eclectic collection and hosts many events. The Toy Model Museum in Brighton will delight children of all ages as will the Booth Natural History Museum The Hove Museum and Art Gallery has a variety of arts and crafts on display, while motor enthusiasts should head to the Bexhill Museum which houses an interesting motor racing collection. The Shipwreck Museum in Hastings is also a fun family friendly trip.
Children will love Drusillas Park in Alfriston -a small zoo with plenty of play areas. Brighton Sealife centre is another exciting day trip out or head to the rides and arcade games at Brighton Pier.
The area boasts many historic buildings, the famous Brighton Pavilion is a must see, where Newhaven Fort offers imposing walls, ramparts and tunnels. The Normandy Lewes Castle has incredible views over the surrounding countryside, and the Barbician House Museum next door to it is also worth visiting. The gardens and house of Michelham Priory are fantastic to explore, or you may wish to head up to Battle and discover the old Abbey ruins there.
The rolling countryside of the South Downs way offers excellent walking territory and the stunning coastline is fantastic for coastal walks, sea views and opportunities to try various water sports too.
