Why choose Valley View Camping

Set in peaceful countryside with great dark skies and just minutes away from the Cinder Track

About the site

Set in the North Yorkshire countryside, just minutes from a rocky beach, this small, adult only site is perfect for those looking to relax and unwind in open countryside. The site is located just off the Cinder Track, a route from Whitby to Scarborough that offers scenic coastal views away from traffic. There are just nine grass pitches for tents, trailer tents, campervans and motorhomes measuring 4.5m x 6.5m and 12 hardstanding pitches for trailer tents, campervans and motorhomes, allowing for a peaceful stay. All pitches are non electric and some may have partial sea views. Pitches are spread across two areas. For those who want to leave the hassle of hammering in the tent pegs behind, there are two cosy camping pods which are the perfect weather-proof alternative to a tent. The double pod sleeps two and has bench seating and a table inside, which converts into a double bed with bedding and four pillows stored away under the seats. The pod includes electric sockets and lights and measures 4m x 2m with a height of 1.5m, but do note that the doors are only 1m tall, so you will need to duck when entering. The pod is set in one of the camping fields. The king pods include a king-sized bed with bedding, are powered by solar energy, and come equipped with 12V USB ports for charging devices as well as 12V lighting. Shared facilities including showers, toilets and a washing up area with a kettle and microwave are just a short walk from the pods. Or, you can book the shepherd's hut that sits in a quiet area of the campsite and is equipped with a double bed, bedding, a sink with hot water, a kettle, a toaster, a hot plate, cutlery and crockery. Outside the shepherd's hut is a picnic bench and a private toilet. Located only 15 minutes from Scarborough and 20 minutes from Whitby, the site makes a great base for exploring North Yorkshire's coastal towns and the North York Moors National Park. Robin Hood's Bay is only a 20 minute drive away, a picturesque old fishing village with a sandy beach and rock pools. Please bring your own towels and a torch for heading to the facilities at night. Guests are welcome to use the picnic benches on site, so bring along a BBQ and enjoy cooking a tasty burger in the great outdoors. The site is dog friendly, so be sure to bring your four-legged friends. Sorry, no dogs in the camping pod.

Valley View Camping is open from 01/04 to 30/10.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

We stayed from Wednesday to Saturday and more or less had the site to ourselves for the first 2 nights. The pitches are flat, and relatively sheltered, which was good, because we had to pitch the tent in gusty weather and Friday night was very gusty too. The site has a path that leads directly to the cinder track. We had to ask other campers where the path was, so it could have been better signposted. We did a 13 mile walk to Robin Hood's Bay and back directly from the campsite, which was lovely. We really liked having the kitchen facilities, it was nice just to boil a kettle there rather than getting out the camping stove, and the fridge freezer was very useful. A bin in the kitchen would have been good, I had to put tea bags in the bin in the loo next-door. The toilets and showers were clean, and we didn't have to queue. Sinks in the shower cubicles could have been useful, but not really an issue. The site was pleasant and quiet.

Great site

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

Only complaint is that nobody met us. Signage could be bigger but we had a great stay and the facilities were very clean.

Site's response

Hi, We operate a no reception campsite as we are not a big enough campsite to be sat waiting for everyone to turn up from 1pm until 8pm as we have other jobs to attend too, there is plenty of signs to instruct you on arrival and every pitch is signposted but we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Thanks.
