Bôn Camping is a family run Greener Camping Club site, offering Pembrokeshire coastal woodland and meadow camping with private facilities on every pitch. Just five minutes from Newgale Beach, the site's ethos is to encourage native wildlife, with the help of their long horned cows, kune-kune pigs and ponies. You could even stay in a yurt or bell tent, soaking up the sights and sounds of birdsong in the trees and waves crashing on the shore.

Each pitch enjoys a private compost loo, washing-up sink, hot shower, campfire and picnic table

Spacious, family friendly site with farm animals, local walks, five minutes from blue flag beaches

Coastal eco camping and glamping, sheltered woodland pitches, meadow pitches with panoramic views

About Bôn Camping Certificated Site

Reconnect with family and friends in a peaceful setting. Every pitch has on-pitch private facilities, including your own compost loo, undercover washing-up sink and hot shower. From open meadows to the sheltered clearings of the woodland, you'll find plenty of space around your tent pitch while the glampers among you can choose between the comfort of the furnished yurt and bell tents. All the pitches have a campfire spot and a picnic table. Some pitches are big enough for up to three tents depending on the size of tent. The meadow is a shorter distance from the car with panoramic views across the valley and five pitches in total. The woodland is lower down the valley with seven clearings in total, all carefully spaced out from each other and two are even more secluded if you prefer to wild camp. Ty Twt yurt is furnished to a high standard for your comfort, enjoying wonderful views from its doorstep, containing a double bed, two futons and wood burning stove for colder nights. The kitchen comes fully equipped, you just need to bring your food! The site also has two bell tents. The first is Gwennol bell tent, named in Welsh after the Swallow. It sits nestled into the corner of the hedging, benefiting from views over the valley and towards the sunset. The second bell tent is located in a sunny spot in the woods on the floor of the valley, with views over the field towards the Brandy Brook river. Sit by the fire enjoying the sunsetting over the hills whilst also feeling sheltered from the coastal breeze. Both bell tents are fully furnished and come with wood burning stoves should the nights feel cold. There is a fully equipped undercover kitchen facility and ensuite shower and compost loo provided. Because the site ask that all cars are parked in the car park by the entrance, wheelbarrows are provided to get your gear to your pitch. This is just a small price to pay for the freedom of walking everywhere without the smell of car fumes and the fear of children's safety. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed to come and stay, as it can prevent wildlife from settling and thriving on the land. The site are members of the Greener Camping Club, so if you do decide to visit, you need to sign up to the Greener Camping Club membership. It's a small fee of £12, covering you for the year, to be purchased at the time of booking, and a great way of supporting eco tourism.

Bôn Camping Certificated Site is open from 15/05 to 07/09.

A note from the site themselves...

When we first started our family, moving to Pembrokeshire was always the hope. Gordon's maternal family are from Pembrokeshire and were once tenant farmers, near Narberth.

Funnily enough, my maternal ancestors were also tenant farmers from Gwynedd in North Wales, and so perhaps it's no coincidence that we found each other, fell in love and shared a vision of living back on the land.

We found Porterswell Farm, a slice of heaven in the true sense. Twenty acres of sheltered woodland and nine acres of pasture. Everyday, a soundtrack of birdsong and the sea travelling up the valley. We started a campsite to earn our living, but it had to be like no other. There's nothing that prepares you for the hard work.

But, the privilege of living here, working outdoors, taking care of the land and our animals far outweighs any sense of this being hard work. For us it is a chance to make the return journey back to the land.

Every year, we have been slowly fine tuning the experience we want our camping guests to have when they come here. Believe me, we sometimes lose sleep over it! We always say that re-wilding is at the heart of our ethos, but I think it is more accurate to say that our focus is to live in relationship to the land, wildlife, insects and domesticated animals that help make this a paradise.

Certainly, allowing the larger herbivores to roam freely on our tiny patch has made huge improvements, but it also feeds the soul to see them with a greater sense of freedom!

If you haven't picked up on it already, we care about the environment and creating a better world for our children. Sustainable eco Tourism is the way forward! We hope to welcome you here soon, Fran and Gordon

Medium Tent - Woodland PitchesJul 2023

Gordon met us on arrival and gave us the choice of two camping patches (as there was only one other group booked during our stay). Both patches were beautiful and secluded. Both had their own compost toilet, shower, and sink (with hot water!!!). There was also a fit pit and picnic bench. We chose to stay in the meadow pitch which had beautiful views and was easy to access from the car (5 min walk). Gordon was very welcoming and friendly, and gave us a great recommendation for a day out (Marloe) and food. I would 100% visit this campsite again and recommend to anyone.

Lovely spot in Pembrokeshire

Medium Tent - Meadow PitchesJun 2023

Just back from a lovely stay at Bon Camping. Was a treat to watch the sunset from our pitch each night (and to have our own shower facilities). Perfect base for exploring Pembrokeshire on a campsite with a wild camping feel.
