Things to do in Wrexham
A charming town, Wrexham town is within Wrexham County Borough, driving distance from the incredible Welsh coastline and in striking distance of more than 1000 acres of fantastic local National Trust land.
You'll definitely want to see the magnificent Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which can be crossed on foot or by boat - and the views make the crossing truly worthwhile. Next on the list might be the National Trust's Erddig, where visitors can dawdle around a striking 18th century historic house with picturesque gardens. The perfect pick-me-up after that has to be a tasty Welsh cake at one of the town cafes.
Unmissable on the town's skyline is the beautiful medieval St Giles Church - and it's open year round, so come and take in the view from its lofty roof. Once you've had that bird's eye view, Wrexham County Borough Museum is where you can get an insight into the history of the area and its people, no matter the weather.
Science will come to life for your little ones at the Techniquest Glyndwr Science Discovery Centre. There are 65 interactive exhibits to keep little fingers busy and it also hosts toddler days and astronomy evenings for families with their eyes on the sky.
And then soak up some sunshine with a picnic at Acton Park, Ty Mawr Country Park and Alyn Waters Country Park - these are just some of the area's outdoor spaces.
Looking for some excellent nightlife entertainment? Check out what's on at the William Aston Hall, Grove Park Theatre and Stiwt Theatre and enjoy some great live shows.
Don't forget your credit card for some bargain hunting at the Plassey Retail Village close by or you might prefer to pack your day out with some history - from Chirk Castle to the Roman city of Chester, which are both less than half an hour by car from Wrexham.
Snowdonia National Park is around an hour away by car, more than close enough for exploring the park's cool mountain lakes, climbing challenges and sweet steam railways.
