Overview

How nice to have room to stand up inside your tent! These pointier Native American cousins of the bell tent (and similar to Nordic katas) are a big hit with glampers (particularly taller ones), and the cosy space inside is ideal for cuddling up with someone special.

The inside of a tipi, you can expect a bright and spacious interior, with vibrant rugs and cosy sheepskins, solar lighting, a scattering of cushions, and perhaps a wood burning stove for warmth.

Options at the budget end are relatively simple affairs, offering the protection of a quality canvas and some sort of floor (often decking). You'll have plenty space to place your camp bed or sleeping bag, but will need to bring all the usual camping gear, except the tent.

Sleeping for 4-6 is likely to be on futons or fold-out beds, leaving plenty of space for socialising.

(We should probably also explain that we categorise wooden wigwams under our pods section.)
