Motorhome - Electric Grass and Hardstanding PitchesSep 2023
Half an hour walk to Solva, mostly off road so location isn't too bad. Site is let down by scruffy appearance and looks very neglected.
Can't comment on toilet and shower facilities as we didn't use them. Didn't think it was worth £35 per night. Certainly wouldn't bring my horse here, as broken fence posts with nails sticking out just laying on the ground in the field.
Disappointing

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023
We recently spent 7 nights camping at Birtwick Park. Rather than jump to write a review, I felt some time was needed to reflect before posting.
I think I should start by saying it's a real shame as I feel this site could be great with some TLC. On arrival we were greeted with a rude sign about toilet role use… not the most welcoming after a 7 hr journey.
The commercial bins outside of the amenities block (and in full view of the pitching areas) were overflowing when we arrived. Once they were emptied several days later, sadly the owner made no attempt to pick up the debris that had fallen out or been stacked to the side.
One of the two washing up sinks had a broken tap on arrival. It was still broken when we left. This wouldn't ordinarily be a problem, but there were no plugs or washing bowls for the sinks, so you couldn't 'transfer' the water to the other sink. The fly mesh in the shower areas was also broken, so there were an awful lot of bugs. Now, you may laugh at that last comment as we are to embrace nature when camping, however when you are being dive bombed by moths whilst sat on the loo, it's not much fun!
There are no benches in the showers and a real lack of hooks to hang dry items. This makes it tricky with youngsters in tow. On a positive, the showers always had plenty of hot water, but we chose to shower with our flip flops on as whilst they were 'cleaned' out, they were never really 'clean'.
The site is on a working livery yard. The horses are friendly and well kept, but the yard itself is in need of a real tidy. The grass pitches weren't cut whilst we were there and so your feet always got wet going to the amenities block.
In my opinion, I'd say the site is better suited to vans than tents. If you want basic, with hot showers, in a quiet location with a starry sky, this might work for you but we wouldn't recommend it and won't be returning.

Medium Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023
We really enjoyed our stay at Birtwick Park.
We were disappointed to not ever see the owner and to be greeted by an impolite notice - not the best first impression.
However, the facilities were great, the campsite was fab and the location was excellent. We would love to come back. It's a long way from Aberdeen though 😀.
Hope you have a fab rest of the season and everyone treats the facilities well.
